Tremble at God's Word
David Platt, 2026-09-30

… since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind that ought not to be done. They've become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They're full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They're gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent ways of doing evil. They disobey their parents. They're senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things, but also approve of those who practice them. You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on them. For whatever point you judge the other, you're condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you'll escape God's judgment? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance. But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you're storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed, God will give to each person according to what he has done. To those who by persistence in doing good, seek glory, honor, and mortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking, who will reject the truth and follow …

… God gave them over to a debased mind or reprobate mind. How do we know? To do those things which are not fitting or not correct, not proper. Being filled with all unrighteousness and what? Sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness. Yikes. I want to take a shower after you read this verse. They are whispers and backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud boasters, inventors of evil things. And he goes on, evil things. But their mind has been seared. Question to you is this, why should you trust God? Why should you believe in the Bible? Why should you look to Christ who died on the cross for your sins and rose again from the grave? It's the same Bible telling you this morning that there's a perversity out there and there are those that are bent on wickedness and God is saying, I want you to stand and I want you to be different from the world. I want you to walk away from them and I want you to walk closer to me. I want you to forsake wickedness and pursue righteousness. God is announcing this to all of us. He's announcing it to this nation. …

The Daze Of The Antichrist – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-04-08

… to do those things which are not right or not fitting being filled with all unrighteousness sexual immorality wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness full of envy, murder strife, deceit, evil-mindedness they are whispers, backbiters haters of God, violent, proud, boasters inventors of evil things disobedient to parents that's bad enough, but the bottom line is they will have no authority over them, no one the most loving authority that they could have over their life assumes it's their parents they don't want that undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful, who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same, but also post, tweet. right? Film, approve of those who practice them. That takes the air out of this room. That the ancient Bible ain't so ancient anymore, is it? It describes our culture. And truth is the only weapon that you have against Satan's deception. Because Satan will say, transgenderism's fine. Think about it for a moment. Play it out. It's fine. Really, who says? Who says it's fine? …

Dr. Kevin DeYoung | They Know God’s Righteous Decree
Kevin DeYoung, 2026-03-30 · Scripture reading

… what ought not to be done they were filled with all manner of unrighteousness evil covetousness malice they are full of envy murder strife deceit maliciousness they are gossips slanderers haters of god insolent haughty boastful inventors of evil disobedient to parents foolish faithless heartless ruthless. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them, but give approval to those who practice them. This whole section from chapter 1 verse 18 until chapter 3 verse 20 is about the universality of sin. No person, no people, no place is exempt from the problem of sin. That's the argument that Paul is making with an unrelenting intensity. And chapter 1 in particular, verses 18 through 32, have been focused on the Gentile world. This church in Rome had both Jews and Gentiles. and what he's going to do is shift in chapter 2. Look at verse 1 of chapter 2. Therefore, you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. See, it's a very tricky thing that Paul is doing. Lest anyone, the sort of insiders, the people that have known God for a long time, we might think of it in our context, lest the lifelong churchgoers would get too comfortable and say, give it to him, Paul. That's what the world is like out there, all of those bad people. In chapter 2, he says, now hold on a minute. Before you judge them, you better think if you do any of the same things. And he's going to make the point, if you look in verse 12, …
