And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep: for now is salvation nearer to us than when we first believed.

… but rather an expectancy as one waits on the Lord. Paul in Romans 13 verse 11 says, Understanding the present time, the hour has come to wake up from your slumber because our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is nearly over. The day is almost here. Point number two, as much as possible, stand in unity with fellow Christians. As much as it's possible, as we await the Lord's return, stand in unity with fellow Christians. Look at verse nine. Don't grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. Look, the judge is standing at the door. Listen, never tear others down to lift yourself up. Never make yourself look better at the expense of someone else. Oh, well, they don't do this, but I do it. and you know, don't do that. The Bible actually says you should not engage in that. Why? Point number three, be aware of the afterlife. Meaning you're going to be judged, verse nine. For look, the judge is standing at the door. …
… not some laissez-faire attitude. In fact, Paul in Romans 13 verse 11 says, understanding the present time, the hour has come to wake up from your slumber because our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is nearly over. The day is almost here. And then Paul goes on to say this. So therefore, let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Right. So wake up and live a life that is honoring God. Notice the farmer waits. It's hard for us today. We don't like to wait for anything. By nature I am an impatient person. How about you? You know I'm the person who if I buy a pizza and I bring it home one third of it will probably be gone. Because I will eat it in the car. And it's not easy to eat pizza when you're driving. That's not a good travel food, is it? But we like to get things now. We live in a time of instant gratification. Why wait to buy it? Charge it. You don't have to go down to the mall and shop anymore. Just go to Amazon Prime. You might even get same day delivery. Hungry? Call Uber Eats. I heard about some kid that charged up $1,000 on Grubhub. So all of a sudden there's a knock at the door and all this food starts arriving. Package after package of food that …
… Romans 13 and 11. And that knowing the time. Now it's high time to awake out of sleep. Turn to somebody and say, wake up. Tell them again. Shake them a little bit. Say, wake up. It's high time. Do you believe we're in that time prophetically? Do you believe we're in that time spiritually? it's high time to awake out of sleep for now this is a reference to the coming of the lord is our salvation nearer than what we believed now watch this next part the night is far spent the day is at hand let us therefore here's instructions if you are living in the day of the coming of the rapture and the coming of the Lord, he says, cast off the works of darkness, put on the armor of light. Tell your neighbor, say, wake up and get up. You know, when the alarm clock goes off, you still got to get up. You can't keep punching it. You can't keep hitting. You got to get up. So I don't know what's happened to you. I don't know how, how bad things are going for you, but I just came with a word. Number one, wake up. …
dear friends, and teaching that is vital for our personal growth and sanctification. It is the Word of the Lord for His people. Please be seated. Let us pray. Oh, Lord, how we love Your law, for Your Word is law. It is the light that guides our feet and shines upon our pathway. We thank You that Your law comes to us out of the infinite depth of Your knowledge and wisdom and reflects not only the perfection of Your character, but Your gracious, condescending love for us for which law is given for our blessing and edification. Help us to understand the context of this law in Your love as the Apostle sets it forth herein. For we ask it in the name of Jesus. Amen. We looked briefly at the beginning of verse 9 last week, O no one anything except to love one another, and I made reference to all of the attempts that have been made to use this as the classic proof text that would prohibit Christians from ever enter into any kind of indebtedness, and I hope we were able to demonstrate last week that that's not the point of this text. But the text does make mention of an obligation, of something that we do owe, and a debt that can never be remitted fully in this world. We can pay our debts to the bank, we can pay our debt to the store, we can pay our debt to the credit card company, But our debt in this world to love our neighbor is never discharged until we cross into heaven. …
