God presented Him as an atoning sacrifice in His blood through faith, in order to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand.whom God sent to be an atoning sacrifice through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance;Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God;

And then our sentences for this morning. This was to show God's righteousness because in His divine forbearance, He had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. this is according to many preachers and commentators and christians throughout history the mount everest of the bible romans 8 will come later so maybe there's a few mount everests but we are certainly in the himalayas this whole paragraph is one of if not the most important paragraph in the Bible and therefore most important and essential for each one of us. And we come at the end of this paragraph to see that Paul means to solve one of the great moral problems in the universe. One of the greatest ethical, theological, metaphysical, cosmological problems in the universe, and it's a problem that none of you are thinking about, likely. It's a problem that, likely, none of us have been losing sleep over this week. …
… and the Old Testament that's the point of Romans 3 25 Christ died to show God's righteousness in passing over the sins of Micah and his people. And he died to cover our sins. So I take the testimony here in Micah 7, 7-9 as a testimony of a godly person. His sins are covered by the blood of Jesus 700 years before Jesus died. I take this testimony in Micah 7, 7 to 9 as a testimony of a person who can say there is now no condemnation to those who trust God in the Old Testament. Therefore I take these verses as a model for you and me. I have sinned against God. This is the way Christians talk. This is the way Christians talk. I have sinned against God. I will not try to defend myself. I will not try to lessen my guilt. I will bear the indignation of the Lord. He has every right to be angry with me. His child. I will put my hand on my mouth. …
This is going to be an exciting day as we study the most important paragraph in the Bible, which is Romans chapter 3, verses 21 through 28. Let's talk about the product. Whenever you're marketing, you have to have a product. So what's the product here? Jesus. It's a pretty good product, isn't it? That's who Paul is marketing. And the Bible tells us in verse 21, like I told you a second ago, but now apart from the law, apart, what? Apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been made known. Again, this is a major sea change. Paul now is talking about God rolling out this different way, this new way to have the righteousness of God through faith in Christ. So whenever you see those transitional phrases in the Bible, pay attention. But now, but now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been made known. This word known or the phrase made known is the Greek term. I love this. Fanarou. We get the word fan from this. …
… And the answer is because He punishes His Son in the place of believing sinners. Back in Romans 3, verse 25, God displayed Christ as a propitiation, a satisfaction in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed. He passed over sins. But in order to be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus, those sins had to be punished. And Jesus bore our sins in His own body. God sacrifices His only Son to accomplish His will of justifying the ungodly. This is the glorious message of the Christian gospel. Jesus came to offer forgiveness, everlasting eternal forgiveness. And that is what is demonstrated in that account that we read, so let's go back to Mark chapter 2. Now, this particular account also can act like a sort of exemplary story of the ministry of Jesus that has all the components of Jesus' ministry. Jesus is there, sinners are there, healing is there, the crowd is there, the hostile leaders are there. …
