For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;

… Though we were enemies of God through Christ, we are now children of God. Romans 5.10, 1 John 3.1 Though we were dead through Christ, we are now alive. Ephesians 2.1 Though we were filthy through Christ, we are now clean. Spotless. And that's all. But we could keep going on this, right? That though we were, now we are. We were all blind. We are all a bunch of formerly blind people. Who have been healed. Who have been enlightened. but you know i guess i'm making a general statement and i shouldn't do that because maybe tonight there are some in here who are still blind because you haven't come to christ what are you waiting for there was surely a lot that this man did not know no theological training of any sort no experience to fall back upon prior to his healing but one thing he knew jesus made him see but of course that's not enough for the pharisees they don't give up at that they continue to ask him about how jesus healed him And at this point, the man is like, what are you doing? …
… how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him? For if while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life? God's seeking you today. He's already done the work of saving you. and he's seeking you today with the message of an already finished work of salvation and he'll he'll go as far as necessary to find you i was thinking about this talk and remembering about a story that our church in our earliest days had a part in i was traveling on a plane in 2010 and i was reading the usa today does anybody remember this yeah no uh monday july 12th, flying to speak somewhere, reading my USA Today. Spain had won the World Cup, big story there. But I looked down below and a few months back in 2010, a tragic earthquake had devastated Port-au-Prince, Haiti. And Shelley and I had been in Port-au-Prince and loved the people of that country. And I was captured by this title. The subheading in the title says, six months after quake, many barriers still to recovery, but I was really captured by this picture of this little girl. And the caption under the picture says, survivors, Ernst Leo manages to keep daughter Teresa, who lost an arm in the quake in school. I read the article, and as it turns out, their home collapsed. And when it collapsed, it crushed Teresa's mom and sister to death, …
… how by his blood whose blood Christ's blood right here how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him through Jesus for if while we were God's enemies we were reconciled to him through the death of his son how much more having been reconciled shall we be saved through his life Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. So can I just talk about that just for a second? What it means is, is that on one side of our ledger was a debt. And the debt was massive because we were dead. Wages of sin is death. So it wasn't just that we owed a lot, it's that we were dead. And over here is a holy God. and what the text is telling us is is that God reconciled us anybody seeking reconciliation in 2025 in a marriage or in a business relationship or with a friend and one of your hopes and dreams for 2025 is that somehow these two things that are broken will get reconciled well this is what the text is saying. God reconciled. He somehow put it back together. He somehow brought us back to God. And how did he do it? Well, he's telling us how he did it. He's telling us that he did it through the blood of Christ. That's how he brought us back together. And then he explains it. …
… of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more having been reconciled, we shall be being saved by His life. In other words, it's an argument from the greater to the lesser. If God made the greater sacrifice when we were totally sinful, He will make a lesser sacrifice now that we're less sinful. His love is so strong. He loved us when we were ungodly. He loved us when we were enemies. And He loved us so much He didn't spare His Son. son. That's language, I think, borrowed from Genesis 22. You remember the story in Genesis 22? Abraham and Isaac, and God said to Abraham, I want you to take your only son, your only legitimate son, the son of the covenant, and I want you to offer him as a sacrifice. Listen Listen to this, it's Genesis 22, verse 12. Abraham is ready to offer Isaac. Okay, I won't spare my son. …
