Sermons on Romans 6:11

So you too must count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.

Tremble at God's Word
David Platt, 2026-09-30

… Once for all, the life he lives, he lives to God. So in the same way, count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal bodies so that you obey its evil desires. And do not offer the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life. Offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness, for sin shall not be your master. You are not under law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we're not under law, but under grace? No, don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you're slaves to the one whom you obey, whether you're a slave to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness. But thanks be to God that though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. …

Into The Dark Realm – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-08-26

… this is what you do the Bible says in Romans 6 11 I need to reckon myself dead to that sin. I am no longer starting tonight. I'm not going to yield myself to the yells and screams and the hoots and the hollers when that sin comes yelling at me. I am not going to go for it because Christ has given me the power. I'm in Christ. I don't have to be a slave to that anymore. Listen, if you have to say that to yourself, say it to yourself, but just know this. Being in Christ is the power. You just have to remind yourself That sin has no power over what God has done for me at the cross. No matter what it is. And don't tell me later, but Pastor, you don't know. We all know. We all know. Okay? But look, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. I don't have to do what she wants me to do. He wants me to do because I belong to Jesus Christ. …

… dead. Romans 6, 10, the death that he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life that he lives, he lives to God. Likewise, you also reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus, our Lord. God doesn't want you just living every day to try not to sin. And I know a lot of people live that way. They just wake up and they spend their whole day trying not to sin. Well, the problem is that you keep thinking about the sin and then you're trying not to do it. The better thing is to focus on God. Look, when I was a young man, my dad took me motorcycle riding, and we would be out in the desert, and I would be riding a little motorcycle, and I would see a rock, and I'd be like, Dad, there's a rock, and he'd say, look away from the rock. Do you know why? Because if you're riding, and you're looking at the rock, where are you going to go on the motorcycle? Right into the rock. So he'd say, look where you want to go, okay? And so you're riding, and I'd see the rock, and my temptation when I was little is like, oh here it comes here it comes and I go okay look away look away and then I would get past it and I was like oh but then as you get older and more advanced you just ride and you you just you're …

LET GO OF THE CLOROX BOTTLE
Sam Kelly, 2025-10-12

… In Romans 6, 11 through 13, this is what he says. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. There it is again. Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Don't offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. this is the reminder that we have a part to play, that we get to, not have to, we get to live this out on a daily basis. He says, don't offer yourself up to sin, offer yourself up to God. And this isn't always easy. This is where you step into the battle, because when you commit your life to Jesus Christ, make no mistake, there is an enemy, and his thesis statement is he wants to kill, steal, and destroy. That's what he wants to do in your life, and he is desperate, desperate, desperate, and planning and looking to get a foothold in your life. So you've stepped into a battle here, which is why Paul says, don't offer yourself up to sin, offer yourself up to God, and it's always going to be a wrestle. We're going to talk about that more next week in Romans 7, but don't offer yourself to sin, offer yourself to God. There's a high school football coach in …
