Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness. Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.neither present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

… Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal bodies so that you obey its evil desires. And do not offer the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life. Offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness, for sin shall not be your master. You are not under law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we're not under law, but under grace? No, don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you're slaves to the one whom you obey, whether you're a slave to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness. But thanks be to God that though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin, and you've become a slave to righteousness. I put this in human terms because you're weak in your natural selves. …
… Here it is, what he said in chapter 12. Offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life. And here's the applicable part. Here's the application part. And offer every part of yourself. Imagine if you did this. Imagine if you had been doing this. And offer every part of yourself to him, God, as an instrument of righteousness. He says, he's saying to this audience, I want you to offer your ears what you listen to. I want you to offer your eyes what you look at. I want you to offer your mind what you think about. I want you to offer your hands what you do. I want you to offer your feet where you go. I want you to offer your resources that you've been entrusted with. I want you to offer your hopes and dreams and desires. I want you to offer everything to God and say, God, I see all these as instruments that you can use for your will and they are available to you. …
… for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life. your members to God as instruments for righteousness for sin will have no dominion over you since you are not under law but under grace. So having been united to Christ in his death and resurrection Paul says that we are then to consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus for sin no longer shall have dominion over us. Why? Because our old self was crucified with Christ and there is a new self that has been raised with him. Romans 6 verse 4. We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, where we too may walk in newness of life. these are glorious promises for our sanctification. Now this doesn't mean that we won't or don't battle with sin. It doesn't mean that we don't struggle or strive with sin. …
… and pours it at his feet. and she's a picture of Romans 6.13. Do not go on presenting your bodies to sin as instruments of unrighteousness but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. That's what this woman does. She takes her body that had been used as an instrument of sin and say, I don't walk like I used to. I don't want to live that way anymore and she takes that body and offers it at the feet of her king, the best she has, and the room is filled with the aroma of that fragrance. But then as one preacher said, but then a stench arose and it was the attitude of the Pharisee. And in verse 39 it says, now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, if this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who's touching him for she's a sinner. …
… Don't offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. this is the reminder that we have a part to play, that we get to, not have to, we get to live this out on a daily basis. He says, don't offer yourself up to sin, offer yourself up to God. And this isn't always easy. This is where you step into the battle, because when you commit your life to Jesus Christ, make no mistake, there is an enemy, and his thesis statement is he wants to kill, steal, and destroy. That's what he wants to do in your life, and he is desperate, desperate, desperate, and planning and looking to get a foothold in your life. So you've stepped into a battle here, which is why Paul says, don't offer yourself up to sin, offer yourself up to God, and it's always going to be a wrestle. We're going to talk about that more next week in Romans 7, but don't offer yourself to sin, offer yourself to God. There's a high school football coach in Florida and he walked into his weight room one day and he was pretty angry at what he saw. …
… You have been given life. Romans 6.13 describes Christians as those who have been made alive. You were dead in your trespasses and sins. Colossians 2, dead in your transgressions, dead because you were literally born dead. Only the Lord could give you life. How did it happen? By hearing the voice of the Son of God. Christ is the only one who can speak life into the dead. He is the one who regenerates. He is the one who gives spiritual life. This is an amazing expression of spiritual power. He takes the spiritually dead and regenerates them. It's the new birth. It's regeneration. It's new life. It's new creation. And by the way, He is given the title Son of God in this particular ministry of giving life because only God can give life. Only God is the source of life. And those who hear the voice of the Son of God as He speaks will live because He has the same power, verse 26, to give life that the Father has as well. …
