We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin.For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

… We know the law is spiritual. I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I don't do. What I hate, I do. And if I do what I don't want to do, I agree the law is good. As it is, it's no longer I who do it, but it's sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me. That is in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do. No, the evil I do not want to do, I keep on doing. And if I do what I do not want to do, it's no longer I who do it, but it's sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work. When I want to do good, evil's right there with me. For in my inner being, I delight in God's law, but I see another law at work within the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law at work within my members. …
… and helpful chapter in the entire Bible. And here's why. Paul starts off by saying, for we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh sold under sin. I do not understand my own actions for I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Paul's saying, I have a problem. And that's why the struggle is good. It teaches us we have a problem. You can't fix a problem, right? If you don't know what the problem is. And Paul's laying it out for us right here. He says, the problem is me. God is good. His law, his moral law, what's right, what's wrong that he's etched on our hearts. It's good. The problem is I am not good. The problem is I have a sin problem. What is sin? Sin is the reason you keep doing the thing you hate. it's a sin problem it goes all the way back to the first man and woman Adam and Eve God created them there was no sin the world was beautiful harmonious unlike it is today and then they were tempted they turned their backs on God and it says in that moment this disease called sin entered into the human existence and because of that we keep returning back to the things we hate there's so many world religions out there and they all agree we have a problem. Buddhism says our problem is we're ignorant, so we need more enlightenment. Hinduism …
… testimony. We know that the law is spiritual. In fact, he says back in verse 12, the law is holy, the commandment is holy, righteous, and good. He knows that. I know the law is spiritual, but I am of flesh sold into bondage to sin." He locates the sin issue in the flesh, which is like the mortal body of chapter 6. And this is how it reveals itself. "'What I'm doing I do not understand, for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I'm doing the very thing I hate. If I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the law, confessing the law is good. Something's wrong. I don't like it. I am a new person. I am a new creation. My physical death will be less of a change than my conversion was because I've already been fit for eternal heaven, because I've been given eternal life, which is the life of God. So why is there all this struggle? …
