Fallen But Forgiven | Sunday Message

… Jesus Christ is interceding for you as well. Romans 8.34 says, who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus who died more than that, who was raised to life. listen, is at the right hand of God and he's interceding for you. An old preacher from days gone by, Robert Murray McShane, said this, and I quote, if I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Yet distance makes no difference. He is praying for me, end quote. And Jesus is saying, I'm praying that your faith will not fail. Jesus is saying, you're going to have a lapse, but you're going to come back stronger as a result. Verse 32 of Luke 22, I prayed for you that your faith will not fail. When you've returned to me, strengthen your brothers. And Peter did come back stronger as a result. He wrote about it in his own epistle, 1 Peter chapter 5. And he says, after you've suffered a little while, God will restore you, support and strengthen you, and place you on a firm foundation. So Peter came through his storm. …

Tom Groelsema | Christ and His Church
Tom Groelsema, 2026-05-12

… seated with power at the right hand Paul speaks about this in Romans 8.34 and other places. Peter can speak about it in 1 Peter 3.22. This reign of Jesus, friends, is universal. All things, every nation, every leader, every spiritual being, every person, every planet, under the feet of Jesus. But His reign is especially significant for the church. Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1, 20-23 says, God raised him from the dead, seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Friends, why is Jesus reigning? For our sake. The blessings of his reign are for us, especially. He is Lord of all. He is the sovereign one for the sake of his people, the sake of his bride. And friends, this is what question 51, question and answer 51, that second question there, highlights for us. How does this glory of Christ our head benefit us? …

The Triumph of Divine Love (Romans 8:31-39)
John MacArthur, 2024-01-28

… you to turn in your Bible to Romans chapter 8. It's a great chapter, but we're going to look particularly at verses 31 to 39, Romans 8, verses 31 to 39. And I'll read that for you just so you have it in mind. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies. Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword, as it is written, for your sake we are being put to death all day long. …

… It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea, rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Jesus Christ is the only one big enough, wise enough, strong enough, good enough, loving enough, all-knowing enough to redeem or to condemn. You don't have the power to redeem anybody, and you don't have the power to condemn anybody. And when you use unmerciful, unloving, unforgiving judgment toward another human being, again I say you are usurping the authority, the right of Almighty God. Now why do we do this? I want to mention three or four reasons why human beings judge other people. First of all, because of our iniquity. Look, if you will, in verse 3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considereth not the beam that is in thine own eye? Here's a man with a saw log in his eye looking for sawdust in somebody else's eye. …
