Hate Me Now, Thank Me Later
Levi Lusko, 2026-06-15

… for you to wake up. I got so many things I want to tell you that you miss. Right. And literally the last verse, it ends with as much of a bang. The first verse was let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. The last verse is my young stag come run on the hills of Beether and get on the mountain of spices. Like it's like, whoa, ease up. You're just like, what's going on here? And it's there. They didn't end their love story. They're still living it out. Sheep's getting better. Yeah. Now, what we want to acknowledge, elephant in the room wise, is that Solomon goes on to completely turn his back on all the advice espoused in the book of Song of Solomon. He allowed many foreign women into his life and they turned his heart away from God. It's believed that he's an old man now, looking back as he writes the Song of Songs with regret, shriveled, shrunken, sad, sorry, discouraged, disillusioned, but writing back going, this is God's ideal. The better question is how do we avoid his mistake? How do we let his hindsight, because this is God's ideal, whether or not the author of God's ideal actually lived it in his own personal life, how do we avoid his mistake and let his hindsight be our foresight? Yeah, Yeah, we avoid it by going back to chapter four, verse three, where he says, your lips are like a strand of scarlet. …

What To Do When You Like Someone
Levi Lusko, 2026-04-20

… Verse two, continuing, and Shulamite is speaking here. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth. Okay, so you like him. All right, well, we've got that established. It's attraction, by the way. Her first thoughts as she's around this guy, she's into this guy, she's saying, I like him, right? I want him to kiss me and on my mouth. We are off to the races. But I think we shouldn't rush past this, but we should identify and hold this up as a God-given part of human sexuality, that something ignites inside of her. She's saying, I'm attracted to him. The sex drive doesn't begin when you say I do and get into that honeymoon suite, right? No, it begins, she's finding it. She's feeling it right here. She's like, I just know, there's something in me going, I want this guy. I want him. And that's important. And that's not something to be ashamed of. That's not something to be embarrassed by. If God gave it to us, he has a plan for how it's to be utilized. …

Spiritual Convalescence
Charles Spurgeon, 1864-03-17

Nor are the means of Grace the only channels by which we are spiritually strengthened. Christian society will often produce the same blessed results. Some Christians live too much alone. It is true that there is an evil of an opposite character, for some professors spend far too much time in one another's houses, wasting precious hours in idle gossip and chatter! But Brothers and Sisters in Christ ought to find opportunities for profitable conversation concerning their Lord and His work at home and abroad. Some of us might derive great benefit from the Christian experience of those who are older than we are, or who have been more deeply taught in the things of God. While others of us might be able to impart some spiritual gift to those who are less favored than we are. In the olden days, "they that feared the Lord spoke often, one to another." Let this good practice be revived, for thereby, depend upon it, many will be strengthened in the Lord! Still, dear Friends, the best way of obtaining a renewal of spiritual strength is by getting near to Christ, and staying near to Him! He who lays hold of Christ has grasped "very God of very God!" He who can come so close to Christ as to lay his head upon Christ's bosom and say, "Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth," must grow stronger and stronger every moment that he is in the immediate Presence of his Lord! We grow in Grace as we grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! The clearer view we have of Christ, the firmer confidence we have in His faithfulness and His power to save, the stronger will our spiritual nature grow and the more like our Lord shall we become! They who live near to Christ must derive strength from Him. Having waited upon the Lord, they shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. …

A Vision of the King
Charles Spurgeon, 1863-10-04

Without any further preface, I will try to direct your thoughts to these four things. First, a King pre-eminent Secondly, a vision predicted. Thirdly, a peculiar beauty. And, fourthly, a land possessed. I. First, dear Friends, we have plainly enough in the text, A KING PRE-EMINENT—"Your eyes shall see the King." No name is given and no name is needed. It is here as it was when the spouse began the Canticles by singing, "Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth." There was no need to say to whom she was referring, for the chaste bride wanted no kisses from anyone but her Beloved! I am speaking to those who know the Lord and, therefore, I say to them—You know, Beloved, that our Lord Jesus is King by Divine right. He is the brightness of His Father's Glory and the express Image of His Person. God has appointed Him heir of all things, and by Him God made the worlds. "For by Him were all things created that are in Heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist." He "is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords." Well did the inspired Prophet write concerning Him, "The government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end." It is by His permission that other kings reign! And when He pleases, He can in a moment remove the mightiest monarchs from their throne! He is the only Sovereign who is King by Divine right—the absolute Disposer of all events, to whom all power in …

The Wandering Bird
Charles Spurgeon

"Return, oh heavenly Dove, return! Sweet messenger of rest, I hate the sins that made You mourn And drove You from my breast." We have wandered from our place, you see, for our place is at Jesus' feet with Mary, or on Jesus' bosom with John, or at Jesus' lips with the spouse in the Canticles, saying, "Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth." But roaming here and there, we are like a bird that has wandered from her nest. And does not this wandering imply a lack of watchfulness Do I not observe the Christian who was so jealous of himself once that he did not try to put one foot before the other for fear he should take a step awry? He would not even talk without saying, "O Lord, open You my lips!" But now he thinks that he is sure to stand—and he forgets to guard himself with jealousy. He thinks, perhaps, that his experience has made him so wise that he will not fall into his former errors, and so he gets a carnal confidence and forgets to stand upon his watchtower day and night and watch against his foes. Do you know what sometimes happens to the bird if it leaves its nest? Why, while the bird is away, the cuckoo comes and drops its egg in, and so the poor bird, when it comes back, has to hatch its enemy! And oftentimes, when we are not watchful and permit the enemy to take an advantage over us, Satan comes in and drops some foul temptation into our nest, which our hearts help to hatch and which will give us trouble all our lives! As sure as ever we wander in the matter of watchfulness, it will be for our hurt. We may sleep, but Satan does not. Never was he detected napping yet. There is slothfulness among Believers, but there is no slothfulness on the part of their adversary! He always watches, going "about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." Though you should leave off watchfulness, he never will. Oh, Christian, do not leave your nest, for you do not know what may come of it, what good things may be destroyed, or what bad things may be deposited while your heart is away! …

A Sad Confession
Charles Spurgeon

me, my Lord, and I will tell You my griefs, and my joys, and You shall tell me all Your heart, and we will thus confer and confide with secrets of which the world knows not!'" The secret of the Lord is with them who fear Him. Let us, therefore, tell our heart's love to Christ. We hid, as it were, our faces from Him. Say, when and how did you begin thus to act? You used to revel in the light of His Countenance, once—why did you hide your face? Did you get worldly? Did you dote too much upon some earthly object? Did you neglect prayer? Did you give way to temptation? Beloved, whatever may have been the cause, remember Jesus Christ has not divorced you! He has said, "Return, you backsliding children; I am married unto you, says the Lord." Come back then! Come back, now, as we meet around the Lord's Table, you that love your Lord, but have lost fellowship with Him! Pray—pray that this may be the beginning of a happier era. Oh, that we might keep looking on to Jesus, and Jesus looking to us! Oh, that we might maintain that dear fellowship and never have it broken till it shall melt into the yet nearer and more glorious communion on the other side of the river where nothing can disturb the profound enjoyment! Get up, get up, Believers, from your sorrows, from your cares, from your anxieties and distractions! Get up to the Master's feet and sit there with Mary, and look up into His dear loving face, and listen to His gracious words of promise! Hide not your face from Him! He will not hide His face from you! Say, like the spouse in the Canticles, "Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth, for His love is better than wine," and He will answer your prayer, and make your heart burn within you with the holy ecstasy of fervent love! May it be ever so with us! Amen.
