Well, internet shut down and router issues and we don't think we're going to be able to stream or do anything tomorrow, first Sunday of the year. I said, is that right? He said, yeah, so can I merge you into the call? I said, nope. no sir he said so you you you telling me you you refusing to get in the meeting on the call on the other line i said yes sir i said what i want is the internet to be working he said well that's probably not gonna happen pastor i said well all right you have a good day hung the phone up my wife kind of heard a little bit everything alright? I said yeah Pastor Polk telling me the internet's not working all that he wanted to merge me in on the call with Pastor Vassar and Damien and Dean Gregg and himself and I refused she said okay I went in the living room sat on the couch had my phone scrolling through doing nothing and I felt my face getting tight and something said relax your face I relaxed my face and I went to sleep for over an hour when I woke up I saw that quote on Instagram and the Lord said to me don't think it's strange that on the first Sunday where you've declared the year of joy that some inconvenience on a large magnitude would hit the church that declared joy over the whole year.

44:27 Because joy is not the absence of pain or inconvenience. Joy is manifested in the middle of it. and so the lord wanted me to run the church today and help somebody understand don't walk through this year with toxic positivity don't walk through this year acting like oh i'm just too blessed to be stressed and i'm too anointed to be disappointed and i'm too equipped to be whipped no you're gonna get whipped and you equipped you're gonna be disappointed and you're anointed you're gonna be stressed and you're blessed and your joy will be discovered in the middle of painful situations see when when the sun comes out as it has over the last few days in this church that makes me shout because the days before the days of sunshine were cloudy and dreary looking and you don't appreciate sunshine until you had some repetitive cloudy days you really don't appreciate joy until your back has been against the wall and all you've had is pain and disappointments and low days. So maybe God gives us, thank you Frankie Beverly, it made joy and pain.

45:46 Sunshine and rain so that we appreciate when joy sneaks in. There's a couple things I need to tell you about this because I don't want you walking through the year side eyeing me or God talking about he said this the year of joy terror attack in new orleans man turns down bourbon street and just plows over people as if they are things for three full blocks 15 people that you wake up to a new year to that news while that's going on on one side of the country a cyber truck explosion that was intentionally done happens in Las Vegas. Well, let me help you understand something. There's a difference in happiness and joy. Now, I'm not one of those Christians that believe God doesn't want you to be happy. Happiness is a word found in the Bible that means spiritual contentment. Happy is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful, but his or her delight is in the law of the Lord. The Lord wants you to be happy. yeah yeah happy all the way through the the beatitudes that word blessed is the man or the blessed is the woman blessed are the meek and blessed are the poor and blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted that word blessed originally means spiritual happiness so the Lord wants you to be happy but I need you to understand that joy is a little bit different than happiness for those note takers who want to take some copious notes happiness is based on circumstantial pleasure, merriment, hilarity, exuberance, excitement, or something that causes one to feel hopeful or to be in high spirits. Don't miss that. Happiness is determined by what's happening. And then it goes on to say these fleeting emotions of happiness, although very pleasurable at the moment usually go just as quickly as they come. Happiness determined by circumstances. You need external stimuli to experience happiness. Something has to happen that triggers your happiness.

48:36 But joy. Rick Reiner in his book Sparkling Gems from the Greek says but joy is unaffected by outward circumstances. In fact, it usually thrives best when times are tough. Joy is God's supernatural response to the devil's attacks. So here I am walking in church. If I didn't tell you everything that was going on, you wouldn't have known what was wrong with me. Because I got joy in chaos.

49:11 I have peace. that makes no sense and I won't be going under cause I'm not held now you've been in fellowship for the last 3-4 months if there's no song you know, you know this song I won't be going under cause I ain't held by my own strength I built my life on Jesus he's never let me down faithful through every season so why would he fail now tell yourself he won't but because i have joy on the inside it doesn't matter what happens on the outside this is untouchable now here's another thing i need you to understand about joy because in a minute you're gonna you're gonna understand why i'm so happy the greek word for joy is chara everybody say chara some people say it differently but I'm preaching today and that's the best way I know to say it so that's why I'm going to say it the way I know how to say it everybody say chara now that's what the Greek word is for joy in the New Testament now the Greek word for grace Patricia Harris is charis charis or charis some people say everybody say charis or charis what does charis mean what does chara mean charis means chara means now you see some similarities in the word because chara is a derivative of the word charis which means you cannot have real joy if you first have not had an experience with real grace and the reason we have grace is because Christ died on the cross for our sins and grace spilled out over our lives.

Holla at me if you know you got Christ as the foundation of your life. if Christ is the foundation of your life if grace is over your life you can have joy in your life because real joy is an extension of God's grace so if you have grace you have access to joy and people can be happy but joy is a little bit deeper than that because joy is not of human origin it is divine it's divine can i just read this the greek word for joy is chara derived from the word charis which is the greek word for grace this is important to note for it tells us categorically that joy is produced by the grace of god this means joy isn't a human-based happiness that comes and goes but rather true joy is divine in origin watch this a fruit of the spirit that is manifested particularly during hard times anybody and in the words of the late reverend charles gilchrist adams who used to pastor in detroit we don't live peak to peak mountaintop to mountaintop you got some valleys in the middle don't smile at me while you're on the top of the mountain don't laugh with me on the top of the mountain where's your laughter where's your smile where is that unconquerable joy when you have to walk through a valley because life ain't always going to be what you want it to be but joy watch this is a feeling of inner gladness delight or rejoicing rooted in our relationship with christ joy is a feeling of

55:26 get another year filled with depression and anxiety i came to walk with you so you and i can experience the joy of god I need some prayer warriors. I need some folk that know you got the Holy Ghost. Not just the Holy Ghost that make you shout, but the Holy Ghost that'll fill you up and help you keep going forward even when life is trying to pull you backwards.
