42 we thank you for the power of your resurrecting your son and our Savior, Lord, Liberator, Redeemer. Thank you for Jesus. We thank you now for this moment that you have ordained even from the foundations of the earth because of what you are providentially up to, even in this season. And we thank you, oh God, this is a great day for resurrection. We thank you that with all that's happening in the world around us, it's a great day for resurrection. Resurrection possibilities, resurrection renewal, resurrection hope. It's a great day for resurrection.
39 Now, in the name of our resurrected revolutionary, we come to you asking that you would speak to us. You know what's happening in the world. You know what's happening in our world. We need a word from you. We need to hear from you. If we don't hear from you, God, what shall we do? So please remove any distractions that may divert our attention. Don't let me or anything in me or about me get in the way of what you are up to. Stand in my body. Take over my mind and think your thoughts. Take my mouth. Speak with power your word. And now bless your word and give such power to your word that you have your way. Have your way. You are the potter. We are the clay. Mold us and make us after your will while we are waiting, yielded and still. In Jesus' name, amen.
35 Would you praise God with me for our music ministry, blessing us, our praise team, setting the atmosphere. Thank you, Saul. You're doing it all. God bless you. I want to call your attention in this first service to the book of Philippians chapter 3. And there in the third chapter beginning at verse 10, we find these words from the English standard version of the Greek New Testament. It reads that I may know him and the power of his resurrection and may share his sufferings becoming like him in his death. that by any means possible, I may attain the resurrection from the dead. You may be seated in God's presence for just a few moments with your prayers. I'd like to use as a subject from which to share, if you know, you know. If you know, you know.
32 Have you ever felt like war has been declared on your mental health, anxiety, attacks you. Bad news bombs your life and breaks your heart. Difficulties and disappointment depress you and doubts start to dog you. Fear locks you up from the inside out and makes you a prisoner of war in the war on your mental health. Pressure has a way of puncturing your peace and before you know it suffering explodes in your life and then shame has a way of haunting you down. I'm simply saying there's a war that has been declared on your mental health. A war has been declared on my mental health. You go to work and there's no peace at work. You find yourself driving up to your place of residence and even at home the phone may ring and before you know it there is an assault on your mental health. There seems to be a relentless all-out war on our mental health. The question often becomes how do you maintain your sanity in the midst of all of this craziness? How do you keep it together when everything in the world and your world is falling apart? One more time, my sisters and brothers, even on Resurrection Sunday, I want to park here parenthetically and affirm the reality that there is a war that has been declared on our mental health. Somebody's looking at me right now. I don't know you but God has me in your Kool-Aid. I've already called out your flavor. Last night you had a hard time getting to sleep
40 because your mind just wouldn't stop racing because there's a war on your mental health. I can stand here and testify after what was an amazing Sunday. I felt last Sunday, Next thing I knew, the week began with a barrage of bad news, both personally and pastorally. There is an assault on our mental health. I'm not coming through like I need to. I'll see if I can make this plain. One of the books that we read in my PhD program in a class entitled Interpreting the New Testament through African-American women writers in the 19th century, which was taught by the phenomenal Dr. Shively Smith, was a work entitled Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.
37 It's the story we know of one Harriet, Harriet Tubman, but she turned me on to Harriet Jacobs. Harriet Jacobs, if you have not read her story, Please don't let the year end without reading the phenomenal story testimony of one Harriet Jacobs. Shively Smith shared with us that the very fact that Harriet Jacobs wrote her own story was in a sense a powerful witness to agency asserted by black women in a time when they not only found themselves having to look down the double barrel shotgun of racism and sexism but they found themselves. Here it is with their bodies always subject to being sexually exploited. That brings me to the story of Harriet Jacobs. I'll give you just a few highlights from the story. Harriet, my sisters and brothers, finds herself born on a plantation in North Carolina and there in North Carolina. Her mistress is relatively kind now. Let me hasten to say do not think that that's a good thing because the bottom line is she was still enslaved. I did not say she was a slave. She was enslaved because enslavement means something was done to her. When you are a slave it means that You assent to the situation that you find yourself in.
18 And our beloved ancestors, they speak to us from eternity right now and say that they never assented to the enslavement they found themselves in as they sang, oh freedom, oh freedom over me. And before I be a slave, I'll be buried in my grave and go home to my God and be free. Y'all missed your shout right there. Get this. They had shackles on their feet, chains on their hands. They were living on a plantation under the lash of the whip. And yet they did not assent to their situation. They said, before I be a slave, I'll be buried in my grave. Why? Because there were no chains on their brains. There were no shackles on their spirit.
12 and Harriet Jacobs, my sisters and brothers, is born into the most egregious evil expression of enslavement in the history of humanity. No other nation has ever engaged in such barbaric and vicious enslavement as the United States of America. I know they're trying to erase it in our history books. I know that the person in the White House is determined to act like slavery did not exist. But guess what? You cannot fix what you will not face. You cannot heal from what you ain't real about. And the nation will never ever get over its problem with race, its problem with othering until it honestly repents of what it did when it was born in the sin of a genocidal takeover and shaped by the iniquity of anti-black white supremacy, a nation that was founded making women second-class citizens, a nation that was founded determined that there were some who were up and in that would always exploit those who were down and out.
32 That is why you've got to be honest. This nation has always been more capitalist than it has been democratic. And so as a consequence, it built its wealth. What on the bloody backs of Africans, Harriet Jacobs, finds herself born into this kind of setting, this kind of insufferable setting. Again, her mistress is somewhat kind, but when she dies, She then finds her world flipped, turned upside down. And now she is in the household of one who is brutal. She is subjected to the sexual exploitation and advances of the master. And as a consequence, she engages in all kinds of ways to discourage him. Look what she does.
27 She even gets involved with a white person. and this white person impregnates her. She's doing what she can and you can't judge her because black women had to make, watch this, choices that were complicated in circumstances that were crushing. And even with that, he was relentless in his determination to crush her spirit, to own her totally and to sexually exploit her. And my sisters and brothers, finally, she decides she can't take it anymore. And look what she does. She escapes in his mind. She thinks that she's gone to the north. Instead, she's in what may be called a shed, the attic of a shed. And for seven long years, she is able to hide out in this shed, watching her children, watching her grandmother.
26 She's there, but she's not there. Seven years in a shed attic where she cannot stand up erect. Imagine the hell of that for seven years. Free, but not free. Free, but finding herself only to, finding herself using this as the vehicle to maintain contact with her family. But hold on, during her second year, she testified she reached a point where she felt, watch this, and I quote her, that there was no divine justice or mercy in the land. She had become so disturbed because her beloved grandmother had fallen sick. Her beloved grandmother was so ill that she thought she was going to die. Imagine the stress on her brain.
21 Imagine, if you will, the war declared on her mental health. She can't stand up straight for seven years in the second year of watching but not being able to touch her children. Watching but not being able to hug her family. Trying to continue to stay away from the master who was determined to have her and exploit her. Imagine the assault on her mental health I'll give it to you again There is a war on your mental health There is a war on my mental health It happens I don't care how big your Bible is How long you've been going to church There is an all out assault on our mental health No wonder who is it David perhaps But a psalmist for sure declares that he or she is basically depressed and thinks about the fact that they are so depressed.
24 They are stressed by what is going on in the world around them. I'm simply saying, my sisters and brothers, that there is this all-out assault on our mental health. It happens to you. It happens to me. But the shout of the morning is that the resurrection has a way of injecting in us a peace and possibility. Resurrection has a way of giving us what we need by way of healing and hope and help. So that we have what we need to overcome what is trying to overwhelm us. resurrection has a way my sisters and brothers of letting us know that what Jesus did for us on resurrection Sunday is not limited to back then but it's something that happens even right now resurrection my sisters and brothers is something that will bless you I won't forget when I was a student at now defunct but never dead Bishop College. It was a rough season the school was going through. After all, Milton King Curry, our president, had called the administration racist, and as a consequence, they came for him. He then had the nerve to say the same thing about the power structure in North Dallas that was trying to defund Bishop College. It had made Bishop an enemy but hold on I'm not even done Ronald Wilson Reagan had become the president of the United States and you know that he continued Nixon's all out push back on the progress that black people had made during the civil rights movement because there is a mindset in some insecure whites that somehow our progress takes away from them. There's something insecure about some in whiteness who just believe that black people do well. It's got to take away from them
36 because they have a politics of scarcity. They don't believe there's enough abundance to go around for all of us. And as a consequence, what they are missing is every time we have progress, the nation has gotten better. Every time we've done well, it made it possible for them to do well. Nobody benefited from the 64 civil rights bill like white women. And white women ought to be the main ones trying to lift us up because they recognize their progress has had everything to do with doors that we open that they didn't even knock on. Preach for the hands. I'm already doing it. And so I know for a lot of y'all it's Easter, but here is what's going to shout you. And that is Dr. John Mangrum. Please don't miss this.
30 Pastor Ayers blew our minds because we're getting ready in this setting that I just shared with you. Reagan in the White House. All out of salt on Bishop College. determined to close its doors this city is and here's what Dr. Mangrum had lifts up as our theme for the L.K. Williams Institute I'm gonna shout you the theme of the institute was an Easter faith in a Good Friday world okay all right I thought y'all would shout but I'll go ahead and get my shout on for you because whatever else I've discovered Dr. Mangrum because I went to his office I said doc this is pretty powerful what are you talking about he said if you limit Easter to what happened back then and don't continuously every day experience resurrection power in your life then Easter just becomes a day where you dress up in new clothes but you the same old person. I'm simply trying to say my sisters and brothers that God is so good that even in a Good Friday world, and you will agree with me, this is a Good Friday world. After all, think about Good Friday. Good Friday is when innocence was victimized by injustice. Jesus, as a matter of fact, a witness sin. I find no fault in him and yet innocence was victimized by injustice because here's your shout right here. Injustice was weaponized against those who were othered. Why? Because Rome got together.
14 I guess I'll give it to you like this. You had the politics of Rome get in bed with prostituted religion and when the politics of Rome got in bed with prostituted religion, it gave birth to a lynching on a cross called Calvary which was determined to send a message to all would-be revolutionaries and rebels in that day. Y'all not getting this thing. You gotta watch prostituted religion. Ah, I think that's Paula White comparing Donald Trump to Jesus. Are you out of your damn mind? How you gonna call, how you gonna compare Donald Trump to Jesus Christ? If your Jesus is like Donald Trump, I don't worship that Jesus. I don't worship that Jesus because you're saying that Jesus grabs women by their private parts. You're saying that Jesus, watch this. Oh, can I tell you about this Donald Trump he's so much like Jesus that if you like Jesus I dare you please die because if you like Jesus you're gonna get up on the third day since you want to be like Jesus I tell you what I tell you what here's one part where he may be like Jesus here I'm gonna say it slow so you get it Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files more than Jesus is in the Bible.
54 Oh, I'm on one today. I'm on one on Easter Sunday morning. I'm simply saying it's a Good Friday world. We find ourselves in assaulting our mental health. A Good Friday world that is messing with our spirits and crushing us in our insides. It's a Good Friday world, but hallelujah. I'm glad to say I've got an Easter faith. Easter faith. Juergen Moltmann says that resurrection is a symbol of protest.
31 Okay, y'all didn't get that. I got to get y'all. Miles Jerome Jones of Virginia Union University, the late great Miles Jerome Jones put it like this. Resurrection is being that should not be. You're not supposed to be, but you is. that's resurrection is there anybody here when you look back over your life you can testify really I could have been dead sleeping in my grave really I didn't have to be here but resurrection is being that should not I've got an Easter faith in this good Friday world and y'all that's what Paul had Paul in some areas I got issues with my boy but but he does Philippians because Philippians watch this the theme of Philippians really is joy and when you look at where he is when he writes this joy he's in prison on trumped up charges joy he's been put in prison because folk lied on him joy those in power have weaponized the system against him and yet when you read the book look at it as he opens up is it chapter 1 verse 6 where Paul writes and I love it.
05 He that began a good work in you will see it to completion. In chapter 1 verse 12, he puts it like this. He said, the things that happened to me have turned out rather for the furtherance of the gospel. Are y'all seeing this? He says in chapter 1, for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. He says in chapter 2, let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus. Y'all, he is doing this thing. He says in chapter 3, I'm a person of accomplishment. But guess what? All of that don't mount to nothing. Because the main thing I want to know is to know Christ and the power of his resurrection. But then I rush to chapter 4. Because chapter 4 says rejoice in the Lord always. And again I say rejoice. And then he says be anxious for nothing. But by everything with prayer and supplication. With thanksgiving.
59 Let your requests be made known unto God and the peace of God that passeth all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. And then he says in that same chapter, listen, I need y'all to understand something. And that is I ain't tripping on my situation because I've learned in whatsoever state I am there with to be content. I can be up without acting up a T. I can be down without being depressed. depressed. I can be hungry without hating on folk who have food. I can be full without being selfish. As a matter of fact, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. He then wraps that thing up by saying, but my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory. And he writes all of this in jail. He's in prison and writes this but here's the shout he says I'm in prison it's Good Friday but I have an Easter faith I have a resurrection faith that I may know him and the power of his resurrection I want to participate with him in his suffering I want to be made conformable to him so I can become like him in attaining death, but also resurrection.
28 I'm going to unpack that and then y'all can go experience brunch. Here it is because I want you in this Good Friday world assaulting your mental health to know that our resurrected Savior is a heart fixer and a mind regulator. And as a consequence, the good news is resurrection has the last word, not Good Friday. How does it work? I'm almost done. Watch the text. The text says here's the first thing and that is I love it that I may know him. It speaks of a connection in the midst of our crisis. Okay, a connection in crisis meaning you're going through stuff but you're not by yourself. That I may know him, know him, know. The Greek word for know speaks of intimacy. Adam knew Eve and gave birth. So I want to be intimate in my relationship with my Lord and my Liberator.
29 I want to be so close to him that even a crisis cannot cancel the closeness that we have. As a matter of fact, the crisis draws me closer and I get to know him on a different level than I had before. I want to know him. Okay, okay. All right. Okay, I get it. We don't shout in our Easter clothes. So I'm going to go ahead and slow my roll because I'm anticipating shouting. And y'all say not in these clothes. So let me go ahead and see if I can help you right quick. And just remind you, the text says we can know him, know him, know him, know him. There are different ways to know stuff. There are songs I know. There are songs I know. there are songs I know and these songs I know I knew watch this before surgery. So I had surgery September 18th. I knew what a friend we have in Jesus. All our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege it is to carry everything to God in prayer. Oh what peace we often forfeit. Oh what needless pain we bear all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer I knew that before surgery but all my sisters and brothers that morning of surgery as they got ready the anesthesiologist put in me the stuff that would knock me out I began in my spirit to sing what a friend we have in Jesus all our sins and griefs to be I'm trying to let y'all know I knew it on a deeper level because of what I was going through. I knew it on a deeper level and then I didn't tell some of y'all this. My young adults know about this but after surgery and then the next day I'm sent home but my blood pressure is through the roof. It's like 205 over 100. My daddy was taken
39 out by a stroke of the brain. I was rushed back to the hospital. When I get back to the hospital I can't bring that thing down. And I began to sing what a friend we have in Jesus. All our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege it is to carry everything to God in prayer. And y'all I knew it on a different level because I had a connection in the midst of my crises. I'm trying to let you know all of us going to go through something. But don't go through it by yourself. You go through it knowing what a friend we have in Jesus. Listen, listen, listen. The other Harriet is Harriet Tubman. And y'all, that Harriet Tubman, the more I read Harriet Tubman, she deserves her own Mount Rushmore. I'm just saying, I'm just saying she deserves her own Mount Rushmore.
38 Because that woman was a woman of incredible, impeccable faith. Her faith was amazing. Do you know, I read this story about Harriet and I give it to you. It still gets me. Harriet Tubman, watch this, is up north. She's escaped. She's already made several trips back down south. Now she gets word that there is a need for her to go back down south to retrieve some more persons who are about to get sent further south into slavery. Guess what happened? She then passes out and you know when she passed out that's when God would speak to her and give her revelation. God told her to go to the corner store and there at the corner store talk to the owner of the store because he has the money. Harriet watched this. I'm preaching at her house in May. I can't wait.
30 next month. Harriet had such a reputation in town that whenever she showed up she was just treated as royalty. She goes to the store and tells the owner God just told me I need to make the trip back down south $23 and God said you have it. He said Harriet God hasn't told me that. What do you what do you want me to do? And that's when she said, well, I'll just wait here until you get my $23 because God told me to come here. And do y'all know what happened? The mail came at that moment. And when the mail came in the mail, in the mail, in the mail was an envelope. It had the store owner's name on it. And in there was a letter, watch this from England. And the person said, I hear that you know Harriet Tubman.
23 I am sending for her great work $24 so that you can help her in the work that she's doing. He said, I don't know how you knew this was coming, but here's $24. Y'all didn't get it. She needed $23, but she got $24 and showed up at just the right time. And the author of the book says, because Harriet walked with God as they were on a first name basis. They had a connection that got them through every crisis. I got to rush on that I may know him, wait, and the power of his resurrection. Hallelujah. I want to know him, but also want to get intimate with the power of his resurrection. Oh my God.
17 If you haven't done something with this, I can't wait to hear you do something with this doc. And that is I just discovered, I was like a day old when I discovered that a root for the Greek word for resurrection is uprising.
37 Rebellion. Revolution. so so so when we shout about resurrection that I get it because I mean I mean I mean think about it think about it have you ever been in a black baptist church especially during a revival preacher sermon is dying and then all of a sudden he can feel it and that preacher shifts gears and goes to Calvary. He died. Oh, he died. They put him in the tomb. He stayed there all night Friday. Stayed there all day Saturday. Stayed there all Saturday night.
32 But early. Just like what y'all did right there. I mean the sermon could be dying. But let them go to Calvary. Let them get them up on Sunday morning. I get why black folk love that. I got to tell y'all. I'm going to be transparent. I'm going to be transparent. I used to preach. I used to real past tense for Southern Baptists. I tried it one time with them. And they just sat there. I get it. When you on top, you ain't trying to hear early. You ain't trying to hear resurrection. You ain't trying to hear revolution, rebellion, uprising. But when you've been held down and know that you serve a Savior who overcame oppression, who incensed on an insurgency against injustice and rose up in rebellion against repression, when you hear I want to know him and the power of his resurrection.
46 The power of his resurrection. There's power in his resurrection. It simply means, I'm going to say it slow so you can grab it and run with it. And that is when you get to know him, you have access to the same power that got Jesus out the grave. You have access with all that Good Friday has done to you. You have access to the same power that got Jesus up to overcome the mess of Good Friday. You have access to the same resurrection power that got Jesus up. That's why you don't give up. That's why you keep your head up. That's why you have hope. Because you have access to resurrection power.
42 Oh my God. That got me. That blessed me. We got access to resurrection power. Hallelujah. That's why, that's why. Check this out. Man, Friday night, it was real funny. I'm going to say it now. Friday night I was preaching at St. Sabina in Chicago. Father Flager, seven last words. And I'm sitting next to Carol and Ann Knight. And Carol and Ann and I, we were, don't judge us, okay? we were a little upset that we had to go in church because we were watching South Carolina and UConn and so we're watching it and y'all so it's time to go to church and and UConn is winning UConn is winning and so we said we're just gonna leave leave Don in God's hands and so And so we go down in church and bless Carolyn's heart, Carolyn, she's looking at her phone while the preachers are up.
54 And so I look because we sit next to each other. I look and she's watching the game. And so I hit her and she said, and we were coming back. We were coming back. Don was coming back. And y'all, listen, I forgot I was preaching. I said, yeah, you know, and, uh, uh, but I was shouting about Don and, and, and, and, and, and South Carolina coming back. And, and then y'all South Carolina came back. And, and, and so Carolyn showed me right before she got up to preach, she showed me the final score. I said, hallelujah, hallelujah. And, and nothing was going on. And so, uh, so people looked at me and I just said, I'm just happy. I'm just, just, just happy. God is good like that. I'm just happy.
46 And so we had won. Don had won 62 to 48. And then I get a notification because I follow Don Staley. I get a notification that, oh boy. Y'all, I want it with everything in me. I was wishing God would you transport me. Because I'll handle up on old boy, you know, in the name of Jesus. I'm talking about table turning Jesus. I'm talking about that one, okay? Because I know y'all say in the name of I'm the table turning Jesus. And so y'all, I'm upset until they show, watch this, the encounter. And so at first he comes for her and she's, she's a black woman, y'all. She's like, and then she said, it was only the grace of God and the other coaches that kept him from getting a beat down on national television.
57 You better watch Messing with Black Women. This nation, you're going to learn about messing with our sisters. And so y'all watch this, watch this. So Don Staley and team had come back. They had come back and as a consequence, they won the game. I'm shouting, I'm hyped about it because they won the game. I'm ticked because he tried to play her and do her wrong. His apology was real whack yesterday because he needs to say her name. Say her name. Say her name. Say her name. Until you say her name, it's not an authentic apology. As a matter of fact, your game took away from the victory of a team that is about to do something real special today. All I'm trying to say is that resurrect when you know the power of his resurrection. The power of his resurrection gives you power for bouncing back.
53 It gives you power for standing tall. It gives you power for taking a stand that I may know him and the power of his resurrection. His resurrection is an insurgency against injustice. It overcomes oppression. It rebels against repression. It is a symbol of protest. Resurrection. Resurrection. Resurrection. Resurrection, resurrection. I'll quit with this. I want to know him, power of his resurrection, but also the participation, the fellowship of his suffering being made conformable unto him in his death that I may attain to the resurrection of the dead. Y'all, I think I've told you about what?
47 a connection. I think I told you about what capacity power of his resurrection. We got to close with this beyond connection and capacity and that is our commitment. Our commitment here is what and I thank God for our brilliant womanist scholars because you don't read this especially through a womanist lens as suffering for suffering's sake. Sisters have taught us if you're not careful you can misuse this passage to justify abuse. What this passage really is saying is that when you think about the suffering of Christ why did Christ suffer? Christ suffered because of his solidarity with those who were suffering. He suffered because Christ engaged in solidarity with those who were down and out. And so whenever you watch this have that kind of commitment, that is when you watch this have power, resurrection power, because it may get you in trouble.
55 But the good news is on the other side of trouble is resurrection. on the other side of trouble is what God has in store for you that cannot be taken away from you. I love it. I love it because the text says, watch this, that we serve a Savior who got in trouble in the synagogue because there was a woman who was bent double and Jesus had the nerve to engage and civil disobedience. He broke the law on the Sabbath and the book says he healed her on the Sabbath. Jesus, y'all still didn't get your shout on. Jesus healed a man with a withered hand on the Sabbath. Jesus brought Lazarus back from the dead. All of that got Jesus in trouble. Jesus on Palm Sunday went into the temple and saw that the poor were being exploited exploited and he went parliament funkadelic I'm gonna turn this mother out and the book says he was then set up to be taken out because of his solidarity with those who are suffering and when you do that you experience that resurrection power about this is April so it had to be in February yeah it was in February In February, I get a call, I'm out campaigned, I get a call from somebody I know, and they called me and said, Pastor, this dude says that when he was in prison, you preached at Tennessee Colony, and he wanted to speak to you.
37 So I'm going to give you the phone to see if you know him. So I trust the cat, but it's like, don't be doing that. And so anyway, I said, hello. he said Pastor Haynes please forgive me for this I'm gonna come to your church real soon I've been out for 10 years and God has been real good to me and blessed me but I just wanted to say thank you I said for what he said because you and your church came to Tennessee Colony and did a series of worship services and and you preached and you blessed us and I couldn't believe that the same Pastor Haynes that was on K104 was speaking at Tennessee Colony and I said oh God bless you man and he said yeah man you just really blessed us and I said thank you because I'm trying to get off the phone because I'm on the campaign trail he said but Pastor Haynes I just need to let you know that you really really blessed me and I promised that I was gonna get my life together the day you preach I knew I could pull my life together I said thank you man God bless you and that's when he put when he when he put a pin in my homiletical bubble he said pastor because even though you're known as this kind of preacher I gotta let you know right now it wasn't your sermon that really got me it was the fact that you came to Tennessee Colony it was the fact that you showed up where we were your presence was the preachment it was you being there with us not giving up on us that let me know I still had hope and then pastor you told the story about your little daughter that really got me. I'm sure she's grown now. And I said, yeah, she's real grown. He said, well, pastor, can I tell you the story? I said, if I told it, I may know it. He said, but I got to tell you, pastor, because this pastor let me know I was coming out. I got to give it to y'all. He told me the story of how Albany watched this as a baby, as a little toddler would get in the tub with rubber ducks because on Sesame Street, they had a song called Put Down the Ducky.
41 If you want to play the saxophone and y'all, Albany, you'll love to have the rubber duck in the tub. And every now and then she would put the duck under the water. But the duck never would stay under the water because no matter how much she tried to hold it down, the duck, watch this, would somehow pop up out of the water and out of her hands. I'm done. But that's my word to everybody because the brother then told me that I said, I don't know if I said this, but that's what he heard I say. He said, now, if a rubber duck can rise up out of a hand trying to hold it down, don't you know it's God's child? God can raise you up out of anything that holds you down. He said, Pastor, from that moment on, I developed a rubber duck anointing because I knew the prison couldn't hold me.
36 Tennessee colony couldn't trap me. And I'm free now. I'm free now. Because just like the rubber duck, I could not be held down. That's the power of his resurrection. And then here's how he closed it. And he said, Pastor, if you know, you know. I'm done. But y'all know where that's from in the culture. When they say, if you know, you know. It's an intimacy. See, it's somebody who knows something that somebody else knows. And only y'all know what you know. And so other folk don't know unless they know. And so you say, if you know, you know. Y'all have a great resurrection. If you know, you know. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. If you know, you know.
28 My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord. If you know, you know. no weapon formed to get you shall prosper if you know you know the Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear the Lord is the
