… free from accusation on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all be on the same side, that there be no factions, no divisions among you, but that you all have the same mindset, The same judgment. You see, it's been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is fighting, squabbling among you, my brothers. What I mean is, each one of you says, I follow Paul, or I follow Apollos, or I follow Cephas, or I follow Christ. Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except for Crispus and Gaius so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name. I did also baptize the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I don't know if I baptized anybody else because Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel and not with words of eloquent wisdom You see, the word of the cross is foolishness to those who were on their way to ruin. …

… Listen to what Scripture says about God being faithful. First Corinthians 1-9, God is faithful through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. First Thessalonians 5-24, faithful is He, meaning God, who calls you, and He will also bring it to pass. 1 Thessalonians 3.3, the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. First Peter 4.19, entrust your souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right. What that means is that God is consistent with His own nature and His own Word. There's never any variation or deviation with God. He is faithful. He is the very definition of faithfulness. And those are just a few of many Scriptures that declare that. The Lord Jesus also is presented in Scripture as faithful. 2 Timothy 2.13, the Lord Jesus Christ remains faithful, Paul says, for He cannot deny Himself. Hebrews 2, 17, He is a merciful and faithful high priest. Hebrews 3, He was faithful. Hebrews 10, 23, He who promised is faithful. …

… He says, for example, if you'll notice in verse 9, God is faithful through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Then I want you to go back to verse 8 on purpose. I read it in this direction on purpose. He says, Jesus Christ, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is His way of saying, that God who saved you, He has confirmed you, and He is going to keep you all the way to the end, not only at this age, but all the way to the moment he takes you home and takes you to heaven. That is, whatever God has begun in you and me, God is going to complete. Why? Because he is a faithful God. He is not going to forgive us of our sins and save us on some basis other than the fact that he is a holy God, a loving God and a forgiving God. …
