… he says to the church, I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ. Now follow this. The head of a wife is her husband and the head of Christ is God. So here's God's Word in the New Testament looking back to Genesis 2 saying this is what Genesis 2 is teaching us. That the head of a wife is her husband and the head of Christ is God. We're going to come back to that one a couple of different times. Later in that passage, 1 Corinthians 11, verse 8, Paul notes how 1 Corinthians 11, verse 8 says, For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman was created for man. There's a ton that can be said about this text in 1 Corinthians 11. We can dive into that more another day, but stay with me here. The other text is Ephesians chapter 5, which we are going to dive in depth into in a few weeks. …
… This is a key verse. 1 Corinthians chapter 11 and verse 3. But I would have you to know, here's the Apostle Paul, the same one who wrote this passage speaking, but I would have you to know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Now let's take that last part of that phrase, the head of Christ is God. Do you know anything about Christian theology? You know we don't worship three gods. We worship one God, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a triune God. And in the Godhead, there's both Father and Son. And so the Father and the Son are co-equal in worth, power, glory, majesty. Jesus could say, He who hath seen me hath seen my Father. I and the Father are one. And yet, this passage of Scripture here, 1 Corinthians 11, verse 3, says that the Father is the head of the Son. Does that mean that the Son is inferior? …
… met because you're the head. It means you exist to meet needs. Now husbands, we cannot escape that responsibility. Put in your margin, 1 Corinthians 11 verse 3, the Apostle Paul says, But I would have you to know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Now our problem is today that we have so many men who have not assumed responsibility. They have wanted to have headship without responsibility. Now, when your wife is told to be subject to you, that means she's to look to you. It doesn't mean that she's there to be your servant, but she is there to have those basic needs met by you. The fact that she submits to you means that you have, therefore, the responsibility to take care of her, and your leadership is to be servant leadership. Number two, number two, this difference between the sexes means that you as the husband are to let your wife know that she is number one in your life. The Bible says, husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself, some translations say, gave himself up for it. Your wife must know that she comes before the children. She comes before your own mother, your own father. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife. …

Now the devil would tell us that if you are in submission you are inferior. But that is a lie out of hell. …
