For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit.

… to someone else. if you read 1 Corinthians 12 13 the love chapter 14 12 and 14 are in the gifts there's an overwhelming theme to the expression of the gifts of the spirit and that is the edification edification and strengthening of the body of Christ the target of the Lord is that every one of us would have a part in bringing strength to somebody else so let me put it this way when we come together if you have not through design and effort worked to encourage, strengthen, help to bring strength of identification to people in the gathering, then you've missed the reason for why you're here. Yes, we're here to worship. But the life of my human body works because each member contributes to the next. and when you cut off the contribution you create a separation and that separation is death I'm not trying to do guilt trip I'm trying to define purpose I'm trying to define what you are skilled at you may or may not know it but you actually can be the person that has the song I jokingly told the story about Chris this morning when he I said we're to have a song so he began to sing over Leslie in first service and I was reminded when he went to visit my dad who was dying and he told my dad, he says, I feel like I'm supposed to sing over you. …

Miracles Of Protection · Part 2

… optimal capacity in our life. You say, well, how do we do that? Listen to this. God has given every Christian the Holy Spirit. Every Christian has the Holy Spirit of God in him. 1 Corinthians 12, verse 13 says, for by one spirit, we were all baptized into one body. We're all baptized with the Holy Spirit of God. You don't have to beg or barter or plead with God for his Holy Spirit. He comes at the moment of salvation. We all have the presence of the Holy Spirit, but we don't all experience the power of the Holy Spirit. That's why Ephesians 5.18 says, be filled, literally be controlled by the Holy Spirit of God. We have the presence, but we don't have the power automatically. There are some things we do that allows the Holy Spirit's power to be experienced by us. Remember this illustration? Just imagine a giant hydroelectric dam. You've seen those before, like Hoover Dam and so forth. You know how it works. …

Hard-Pressed but Not Crushed

challenges of chapter 12 and the unfolding challenges of chapter 14. I suppose if we're going to do a series, then make sure that we keep 13 where it is, right in the middle, so as to prevent us from all kinds of lopsidedness. Father, we pray that what we don't know, you will teach us, that what we don't have, you will give us, that what we are not, that you will make us. And we ask it in Christ's name. Amen. Incidentally, in coming to these three studies in Nehemiah, I've chosen them somewhat arbitrarily, but not actually so. I've decided not to do, you know, if you like, the big passage in chapter 8, bring out the book and the Word of God, and to reinforce the place of expository preaching—not because that would not be our emphasis, but just because it's so familiar to us. And I thought I would rather take a stab at the rather naughty 13th chapter, which is before us later in the day, unless we can find a way to escape before that. But in the same way, you know, here, dealing with chapter 3 and chapter 4, we all believe together, don't we, that all Scripture is inspired by God, the perspicuity of Scripture, we believe, down to the verbs, and the adverbs, and so on. So, we believe that all Scripture is inspired, but if we're honest, we recognize that all Scripture is not equally inspiring. So, for example, you know, Chronicles ends with …

What is the Church?
Charles Stanley

… During the gospels, we still have the Old Testament age. If you look in 1 Corinthians 12, verse 13, for by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Therefore, on the day that the Holy Spirit came upon that group of 120 and those who believe, the Scripture says the Holy Spirit, listen now, baptized once and for all. Not many times, but once and for all, He baptized that group into Christ. Every single person who accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior Is at that moment baptized, grafted into, made a part of the body of Jesus Christ So that when we come to this passage to see what he says when he speaks of the body He says that the church is the body of Christ Now we think about body, what are we thinking about? Look if you will in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 He says in verse 12, For even as the body is one and yet has many members, like your body. …
