… our ability to trust God with our lives should have some above and beyond. Fourth thing I want us to see is that it is true that resurrection is our destination. Listen, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed. Hallelujah. In a flash, just like that, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true. Death has been swallowed up in victory. Oh, come on. We can clap for that, people. This is our destiny. This is our destination. This is what we have to look forward to. None of us are going to rot in a tomb. our ashes are not going to stay scattered in the woods. …
… First Corinthians 15, 51, Paul says, I tell you a mystery, we will not all sleep, we'll be changed in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye and the last trumpet, which will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we'll all be changed. Then 1 Thessalonians 4 says that dead in Christ shall rise first, and we which are alive and remaining shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. And then it goes on to say, therefore, comfort one another with these words. Now I know, oh, that the teaching of the rapture has fallen out of favor with some. They'll say the word rapture isn't even in the Bible. Well, the word rapture comes from the Greek word harpazo, which is found many times in the New Testament, including 1 Thessalonians 4. It means to be caught up or to be taken by force. This is when we receive our new bodies, and this is when we are reunited with our loved ones that have gone on before us. …
… nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep. We shall not all die. But we shall be changed, really, in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye. Doctrine of suddenness. At the last trumpet, there's only two. Don't worry about it. It's not the trumpets of the tribulation period. We're talking about the two trumpets here. There's one, there's the first one, and there's the last one. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed. You see the word changed? Changed. Here's the Greek word. To take something and make it something different out of the same. To change what was into what is. Transformation of this body. That's good news. That's the reason and that is the why we must understand that there is a doctrine in the Bible that there is an appearing. So something's going to happen. We don't know yet, right? We're making our way through this study tonight. There's going to be something that's going to go on, and it is going to cause there to be a change. Next portion, guys. We're going to keep going. Oh, I'm sorry. Back up. That was my bad. For this corruption must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruption has put on incorruption, and this mortality has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that it is written, death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O Hades …
… The Apostle Paul helps answer this question in today's reading from 1 Corinthians. I'd like to read to you from 1 Corinthians 15, verses 50-58. Paul writes, I tell you this, brothers. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. …
… that so suddenly will it happen. Behold, I tell you a mystery. The rapture is a mystery, but we shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. The word moment there is the word atom and A-T-O-M. And, you know, it's pretty amazing that that word would be used. It is the building material of all matter. Everything that exists is made out of an atom. But these people had no knowledge of nuclear physics. They just didn't know what to call the smallest amount of time. So he said, we'll say in a moment, in an atom. It means this, that there has been a moment that has been stamped at him. And as time has gone and every second, every moment gets on the stage of life and it's here. It's been waiting to get here in lines of moments. And by the time it's like a long, long line and by the time it gets here, it's here and it's gone. …
… if you're taking notes, verse 50 down to verse like 52. This I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we will all be changed. Somebody suggested they put that as a sign over the nursery. get it we will not all sleep but we will all be changed i kind of like that but that's not what he's talking about just came to my mind behold i tell you a mystery we shall not all sleep but we will all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised, that's resurrection, incorruptible, and we shall be metamorphosized, changed, physically altered. So two groups, alive, one alive, one dead. At this event, change, twinkling of an eye. So this we say to you by the word of the Lord, we are alive and remain to the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. Remember these guys, the Thessalonians, were all worried about their loved ones who had died. For the Lord himself, he's not going to send an angel to do this, the Lord himself will descend from heaven. …
… One. abound what does abound mean means do lots of it abound in the work of the Lord that's your studies right now it's what he's given you to do so because you're going to be raised from the dead don't be a slacker The language of verse 58 of 1 Corinthians 15 is paradoxical. I love it. Be steadfast and movable, do lots of work. Like an oak tree, not moving one inch, no matter what winds blow, and doing lots of work. That's a remarkable paradox. And our job, our goal here at this school is to try to make oaks of righteousness out of you that don't budge from anything in the truth of God's word. You don't budge. You're a tree, immovable. And you go all over the world doing work filling up your one life with work that he's given you to do. That's an amazing picture, isn't it? There's a correlation between life now and working and the resurrection life coming. If there's no correlation, the verse makes no sense at all. Since you're raised, your work is not in vain. …
