… We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed. Hallelujah. In a flash, just like that, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true. Death has been swallowed up in victory. Oh, come on. We can clap for that, people. This is our destiny. This is our destination. This is what we have to look forward to. None of us are going to rot in a tomb. our ashes are not going to stay scattered in the woods. But in the twinkling of an eye, in an instant, we are going to be raised up and we're going to be clothed with immortality. because resurrection is our story and we are resurrection people. …
… regarding the body, is never announced to be dead. The body takes on the appearance of sleep. We shall not all sleep or die, but we shall be changed in a moment, in a twinkle of an eye, at the last trump, for the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed. And I gave you the definition of that word change down there to watch this, look, to take something and make something different out of the same. That's a remarkable Greek word and its meaning, to take something and then to take that something and make something different, but it's out of the same. Folks, you know it as this, resurrection. Did you know your body's going to be resurrected? If the Lord comes back tonight, then your body's going to be changed in a moment in a twinkling of an eye. You won't see death. I don't know about you, but that's kind of great. There'll be a generation of believers that will not see death at that moment. Sign up. Man, I hope that's tonight. …
… We will not all sleep. We will not all die, but we will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, because the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable. And we shall be changed. Because this perishable body must put on the imperishable. And this mortal body must be clothed in immortality. And when the perishable puts on what cannot decay and the mortal is clothed in what cannot die, then shall come to pass the saying as it is written, death is swallowed up in victory. Where is your victory, O death? Where is your sting? Because the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Therefore, my beloved brothers, sisters, be steadfast. immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord, your labor is not in vain. That's from 1 Corinthians chapter 15. …
… The Apostle Paul helps answer this question in today's reading from 1 Corinthians. I'd like to read to you from 1 Corinthians 15, verses 50-58. Paul writes, I tell you this, brothers. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. …
… And so it says in 1 Corinthians 15 and verse 52 something powerful. It says, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, the trumpet was sound. The dead will be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed. Did you know that you blink your eyes 20,000 times a day? That's 20,000 episodes that Jesus could come in every day. You ought to be living like that. He didn't come on that blink. Well, it could be the next one. It could be the next one all day long. It could be the next one. What is the rapture? 1 Thessalonians 4, 16 tells us what the rapture is. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven. The central figure of the rapture is not the Antichrist, is not the end times, is not 666. the central theme of the rapture is the Lord Himself. Jesus Christ Himself is coming back for His bride. From the lofty heights of heaven, Jesus will step out and the clouds will part and He will descend and He will shout with His own voice. …
… he's talking about just came to my mind behold i tell you a mystery we shall not all sleep but we will all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised, that's resurrection, incorruptible, and we shall be metamorphosized, changed, physically altered. So two groups, alive, one alive, one dead. At this event, change, twinkling of an eye. So this we say to you by the word of the Lord, we are alive and remain to the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. Remember these guys, the Thessalonians, were all worried about their loved ones who had died. For the Lord himself, he's not going to send an angel to do this, the Lord himself will descend from heaven. three auditory phenomenon are mentioned. A shout, voice of an archangel, the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ, those who are asleep, the dead in Christ, your dead loved ones that you're all worried about, freaked out about, will rise first. …
… One. abound what does abound mean means do lots of it abound in the work of the Lord that's your studies right now it's what he's given you to do so because you're going to be raised from the dead don't be a slacker The language of verse 58 of 1 Corinthians 15 is paradoxical. I love it. Be steadfast and movable, do lots of work. Like an oak tree, not moving one inch, no matter what winds blow, and doing lots of work. That's a remarkable paradox. And our job, our goal here at this school is to try to make oaks of righteousness out of you that don't budge from anything in the truth of God's word. You don't budge. You're a tree, immovable. And you go all over the world doing work filling up your one life with work that he's given you to do. That's an amazing picture, isn't it? There's a correlation between life now and working and the resurrection life coming. If there's no correlation, the verse makes no sense at all. Since you're raised, your work is not in vain. …
