1In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the house of the LORD.In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build Yahweh’s house. And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the Lord. And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Jehovah.2The house that King Solomon built for the LORD was sixty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high. The house which King Solomon built for Yahweh had a length of sixty cubits, and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits. And the house which king Solomon built for the Lord, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits. And the house which king Solomon built for Jehovah, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.3The portico at the front of the main hall of the temple was twenty cubits long, extending across the width of the temple and projecting out ten cubits in front of the temple. The porch in front of the temple of the house had a length of twenty cubits, which was along the width of the house. Ten cubits was its width in front of the house. And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house. And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.4He also had narrow windows framed high in the temple. He made windows of fixed lattice work for the house. And for the house he made windows of narrow lights. And for the house he made windows of fixed lattice-work.5Against the walls of the temple and the inner sanctuary, Solomon built a chambered structure around the temple, in which he constructed the side rooms.Against the wall of the house, he built floors all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the inner sanctuary; and he made side rooms all around. And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:And against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about.6The bottom floor was five cubits wide, the middle floor six cubits, and the third floor seven cubits. He also placed offset ledges around the outside of the temple, so that nothing would be inserted into its walls. The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house. The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house. The nethermost story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house round about, that the beams should not have hold in the walls of the house.7The temple was constructed using finished stones cut at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel or any other iron tool was heard in the temple while it was being built. The house, when it was under construction, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and no hammer or ax or any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was under construction. And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.8The entrance to the bottom floor was on the south side of the temple. A stairway led up to the middle level, and from there to the third floor. The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house. They went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third. The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third. The door for the middle side-chambers was in the right side of the house: and they went up by winding stairs into the middle story, and out of the middle into the third.9So Solomon built the temple and finished it, roofing it with beams and planks of cedar. So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar. So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar. So he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.10He built chambers all along the temple, each five cubits high and attached to the temple with beams of cedar. He built the floors all along the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timbers of cedar. And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar. And he built the stories against all the house, each five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.11Then the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying:Yahweh’s word came to Solomon, saying,And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,And the word of Jehovah came to Solomon, saying,12“As for this temple you are building, if you walk in My statutes, carry out My ordinances, and keep all My commandments by walking in them, I will fulfill through you the promise I made to your father David.“Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:Concerning this house which thou art building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute mine ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I establish my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father.13And I will dwell among the Israelites and will not abandon My people Israel.”I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.14So Solomon built the temple and finished it.So Solomon built the house and finished it.So Solomon built the house, and finished it.So Solomon built the house, and finished it.15He lined the interior walls with cedar paneling from the floor of the temple to the ceiling, and he covered the floor with cypress boards. He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards. And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar: from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of fir.16He partitioned off the twenty cubits at the rear of the temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling to form within the temple an inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place. He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place. And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place. And he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor unto the walls of the ceiling: he built them for it within, for an oracle, even for the most holy place.17And the main hall in front of this room was forty cubits long.In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long. And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long. And the house, that is, the temple before the oracle, was forty cubits long.18The cedar paneling inside the temple was carved with gourds and open flowers. Everything was cedar; not a stone could be seen. There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers. All was cedar. No stone was visible. And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen. And there was cedar on the house within, carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.19Solomon also prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there. He prepared an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house within, to set the ark of Yahweh’s covenant there. And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the Lord. And he prepared an oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.20The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and twenty cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of cedar.Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He covered the altar with cedar. And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar. And within the oracle was a space of twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof; and he overlaid it with pure gold: and he covered the altar with cedar.21So Solomon overlaid the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold.So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold. He drew chains of gold across before the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he drew chains of gold across before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.22So he overlaid with gold the whole interior of the temple, until everything was completely finished. He also overlaid with gold the entire altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary. He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. He also overlaid the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary with gold. And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold. And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished: also the whole altar that belonged to the oracle he overlaid with gold.23In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim, each ten cubits high, out of olive wood.In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high. And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high. And in the oracle he made two cherubim of olive-wood, each ten cubits high.24One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing was five cubits long as well. So the full wingspan was ten cubits.Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits was the length of the other wing of the cherub. From the tip of one wing to the tip of the other was ten cubits. And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits. And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.25The second cherub also measured ten cubits; both cherubim had the same size and shape,The other cherub was ten cubits. Both the cherubim were of one measure and one form. And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size. And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.26and the height of each cherub was ten cubits. One cherub was ten cubits high, and so was the other cherub. The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub. The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.27And he placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the temple. Since their wings were spread out, the wing of the first cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the second cherub touched the other wall, and in the middle of the room their wingtips touched. He set the cherubim within the inner house. The wings of the cherubim were stretched out, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the middle of the house. And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house. And he set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.28He also overlaid the cherubim with gold.He overlaid the cherubim with gold. And he overlaid the cherubims with gold. And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.29Then he carved the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer sanctuaries, with carved engravings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers. He carved all the walls of the house around with carved figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inside and outside. And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without. And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, within and without.30And he overlaid the temple floor with gold in both the inner and outer sanctuaries. He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inside and outside. And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without. And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.31For the entrance to the inner sanctuary, Solomon constructed doors of olive wood with five-sided doorposts. For the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood. The lintel and door posts were a fifth part of the wall. And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree: the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall. And for the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive-wood: the lintel and door-posts were a fifth part of the wall.32The double doors were made of olive wood, and he carved into them cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers and overlaid the cherubim and palm trees with hammered gold.So he made two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold. He spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees. The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees. So he made two doors of olive-wood; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm-trees.33In the same way he made four-sided doorposts of olive wood for the sanctuary entrance. He also made the entrance of the temple door posts of olive wood, out of a fourth part of the wall,So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.So also made he for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood, out of a fourth part of the wall;34The two doors were made of cypress wood, and each had two folding panels.and two doors of cypress wood. The two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding. And the two doors were of fir tree: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.and two doors of fir-wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.35He carved into them cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and he overlaid them with gold hammered evenly over the carvings. He carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work. And he carved thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work. And he carved thereon cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted upon the graven work.36Solomon built the inner courtyard with three rows of dressed stone and one row of trimmed cedar beams. He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone and a course of cedar beams. And he built the inner court with three rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams. And he built the inner court with three courses of hewn stone, and a course of cedar beams.37The foundation of the house of the LORD was laid in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign, in the month of Ziv.The foundation of Yahweh’s house was laid in the fourth year, in the month Ziv.In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the Lord laid, in the month Zif:In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Jehovah laid, in the month Ziv.38In the eleventh year, in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in every detail and according to every specification. So he built the temple in seven years. In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its specifications. So he spent seven years building it.And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
