After His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking about God’s Kingdom. To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:

… you've got to sit up and take notice. Acts chapter 1 verse 3 tells us this. Acts 1 verse 3 says, He also presented himself alive after his suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during 40 days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. Isn't it amazing that if you were an eyewitness back then, 2,000 years ago, Jesus presented himself to us common people after his resurrection by many infallible proofs. It means that everything that they saw, they tested and it couldn't be broken. It was a reality. It was real. Remarkable. Awesome. Excellent. Matthew chapter 24, verse 4 through 8. And Jesus answered and said to them, take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name saying, I am the Christ. He's talking about the events that after he would leave, there would be an ongoing increasing of false messiahs, false religions. and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. …
week we've been looking at why Christmas is Christmas we looked at why Christmas in Bethlehem All of these things are biblical facts, biblical mandates. That means that the Bible spoke about these things in advance. So were those prophecies fulfilled? And the answer to this is yes. That Christmas has a message. We looked at all of these from the Old Testament. That Christmas has a purpose. We looked at number five in our study. That Christmas had a unique hostility to it. That Christ came into the world. That Christ's mission, the baby born in Bethlehem, was none other than the king who would wage a war against Satan for the salvation of your soul. That Christmas has a perfect identity, that if you really want to double down and prove to yourself once and for all that Jesus Christ is in fact who the Bible says he is, you can find that out for sure. You can stop listening to people and find out for yourself that the very one who is the choice curse word of the world just happens to be the very exact one whom the Bible says he is. …
… Until the day in which he was taken up, after he, through the Holy Spirit, had given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen. to whom he also presented himself alive after his suffering by many infallible proofs being seen by them during 40 days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. And all God's people said amen to that. You may be seated. I just love the wording of all of that. And for good reason. When the Bible here tells us, by many infallible proofs, the word many here, we're just going to dive right into this. The word many, if you look at it, the word pulos in Greek is in abundance, like many. But the word is abundantly, in abundance, many as in the extreme, in the greatest amount of, or in an overwhelming amount of numbers that is of report. many infallible truths. Again, I love speaking to skeptics. Just note this. What's the word? Bombastic. What's another word for bombastic? …
… had given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen. to whom he also presented himself alive after his suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during 40 days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. And all God's people said, Amen. You may be seated, everybody. And as we're looking at the theme, why, it's not so much that we're asking a question, we're answering a statement. And what we're looking at tonight is building upon these many infallible proofs. And I just love the certainty of all of that. And the great apostle Paul was called by God to be a minister to the Gentiles. We know that. We've been studying the book of Romans on Sundays. But also we remember that Peter is the apostle that is called to the Jewish believers. Isn't that interesting? Now, there's other apostles, but these two apostles are the primaries because the ministry of Paul was very, very exclusively to the Gentile world. And Peter's calling was very much directed to the Jews. …
That's why this series is themed. Why? That's where I got it from. Many infallible proofs. If you're a skeptic or an atheist today, listen up carefully. Here is Theophilus who commissions Luke to go find out. I want you to take inventory of all the information that's available. I'm going to pay you to go do that. You go out there and you do reporting. Be an investigative reporter. And he goes out and for some period of time, we do not know how long. It was probably a great length of time. He began to interview those who were the closest eyewitness accounts of the things concerning the events of Jesus' life. now obviously Luke is writing this after Jesus Christ had been crucified but you say well Jack we're talking about Christmas yes exactly right but Luke would have interviewed all those that he could get to that were around or maybe young at that time and all along that episode or that journey and that's a good thing for you and I because the life of Jesus Christ is something that only an ignorant individual would deny. …
Now, as we come to this part of the book of Acts, we need to understand who's writing this. It's a guy named Luke. Luke also wrote the book of Luke. Very good. And so what we see is Luke ends up in chapter 24, the last chapter of the book of Luke, and picks up at Acts chapter 1 at the exact same place. Same place as Jerusalem. Exact same promise. Luke 24, Jesus promises that he's going to clothe his disciples with power from on high. Acts chapter 1, you're going to receive power when the Spirit comes upon you. And the same plan is outlined there in Luke 24. 47 through 49 verses right there, they talk about how repentance, forgiveness of sins is going to be preached in all the world. That's exactly what's going on right here. And so we see an overlap, a continuation here from the book of Luke. And we need to get a hold of what's going on here in the mind of Luke. …
