I GOT THE POWER | Chad Veach
Chad Veach, 2026-08-31 · Scripture reading

… not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he said, you have heard from me. For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, Lord, will you at this time let the cowboys be good again? No. Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? And he said to them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has put in his own authority, but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. I want to preach a message today. Write down the title. It's called I Got the Power. And we are concluding today. We've been talking for the last four Sundays about freedom. … but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he said, you have heard from me. For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now. What I'm trying to do with this is in Luke 24, verse 49, he said, I send the promise of my Father, stay till you're clothed with power. Acts chapter 1, he says, you will receive the promise of the Father, the clothing of power of the Holy Spirit, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I'm just trying to make the connection between the promise of the Father and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Acts chapter 3, we'll find a place to land this thought in just a heartbeat here. In Acts chapter 3, Jesus was raised from the dead he says he is exalted at the right hand of God having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit which he poured out on the people in Acts chapter 2 and he says this that you see and hear so there was a visible manifestation and there was a hearing audible manifestation of this outpouring of the Holy Spirit alright just about finished here with this verse 38 Peter said repent let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sin baptism is not an option if you're a believer and you've not been baptized get baptized he didn't suggest it he commanded it for the remission of sin for you …

A Missional Awakening
David Platt, 2025-12-10

… Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. So when they met together, they asked him, Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel? And he said to them, It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. Men of Galilee, they said, why do you stand here looking into the sky? …
