Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under the sky.And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.

… is The Secret to Sharing the Gospel Effectively. Let's read Acts 2, verses two to seven. I'm reading, by the way, from the New Living Translation. On the day of Pentecost, all the believers were meeting together in one place. suddenly there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm and it filled the house where they were sitting and then what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and they began speaking in other languages as the Spirit gave them this ability. At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem and when they heard the loud voice everyone came running. And they were bewildered to hear their own language being spoken by the believers. And they were completely amazed and said, how can this be? We'll stop there. So God is getting ready now to change the world with 120 people. What can we learn from them? …
… I think there's some principles in his message that we can employ in our own lives as we share the gospel. Let's read Acts 2 verses 2 to 7. I'm reading, by the way, from the New Living Translation. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. verse 1 through 7 Yeah, it's Acts chapter 2, verse 1 through 7. Stand on your feet if you would. And I want you to listen at this closely. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord in one place. Do you not know that's why the spirit of division always comes against the kingdom of God or your family or your household? Because Satan is afraid of our unity. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a mighty rushing wind. And it filled all the house where they were sitting. Somebody holler, fill my house. Not just fill my church, fill my house. fill my car, fill my job, fill my business, fill my children, fill my grandchildren. I want a great outpouring of the Holy Ghost. I want to see the cup run over. Anybody walk past my house is going to fill the Holy Ghost because God is going to take me into overflow. Shout yes, somebody. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as a fire, and it sat upon each of them. …
… In fact, the scripture tells us this. It says now in Acts chapter two, verse five, now there were staying in Jerusalem, God-fearing Jews from every nation under the earth, under heaven. And then verse eight says this, each one heard their own language being spoken. Each of us hear them in our native language. Verse 11, they say, we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues. So the disciples are just like speaking these other languages. See, in the upper room, they're recognizing this is about his will. What's his will? His will is about others. It's not just about you. It's not about your brand or your plan or your future. It's about him bringing all his children back to himself. In the ziggurat, it's about making a name for ourselves, our plans, our kingdoms. In the upper room, they're waiting patiently, constantly praying, waiting for his kingdom to come. And people hear their language being spoken. They hear the goodness and the works of God in their own language. Like I could just imagine the disciples, they're sitting there and they start to speak in different languages. Could you just imagine it? Like this is how I picture the Bible. Like I could imagine Matthew just all of a sudden coming out and be like, hola mis amigos, que paso, como estan? Right? And then Mark is over here and he's like, he starts speaking like, he's like, marhaba, habibi, how are you? Right? And then you've got somebody else …
Now where they were staying in Jerusalem, God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven, when they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment because each one heard them speaking in his own language. Utterly amazed, they asked, are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus in Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues. Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, what does this mean? Somehow, I ever made fun of them and said they have had too much wine. These guys are loaded. What in the world is going on here? Awaken our affections so that we obey your spirit. Now, these verses that we just read are so packed full of meaning. In order to understand what's going on here, we've got to understand some of the background of the Old Testament. So we're going to do some turning for a couple minutes, And I want you to see some things unfold in Scripture that are just amazing about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the role of the Holy Spirit in the church. …
… That's awesome. Verse five, now there were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And at this sound, the multitude came together and they were bewildered. Now watch this, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. That's key. These were other human languages. They may have been unknown to the speaker, but they were known to somebody. Somebody recognized it as praise to God in his native tongue. He said, hey, you're praising God in my native language and you've never even been to my hometown. This is the first sign gift of tongues. Let's jump over to Acts 10 because you're gonna see it again. This time, Peter is preaching to Cornelius, who was a Roman lieutenant and his band of Roman soldiers, a bunch of Gentiles. In fact, this is one of the first times that Gentiles are hearing the gospel preached. While Peter was still saying these things, while he was still preaching the gospel, the Holy Spirit, without any coercion, without any calling, without any coming forward, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word. …
