Sermons on Acts 4:12

Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.

… Do and do. Acts 4.12 says there's salvation in no one else. There's no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. There were people of the way. Not a way or a better way. There were people of the only way. So it's afternoon. The sun's probably shining. Saul's on his way to kill Christians. It's a good day in the mind of Saul of Tarsus. Verse three says, a light fell from heaven and shone around him and he fell to the ground. And the boy says, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? I love Saul's response. Who are you, Lord? Who are you? And I know that Saul's probably thinking, don't say Jesus. Don't say Jesus. Who are you, Lord? I am Jesus. That's echo. Who you are persecuting. And Saul said, don't. Obscure Homer Simpson reference in case you missed it. He realized that the very God he thought he was serving, he was in fact opposing. And it's also interesting how Jesus says, why do you persecute me? Jesus identifies with his people. When someone raises their hand against us, they are in fact raising a hand against Christ himself. So if you're hurting, I want you to know Jesus knows. He's more than aware. Fascinating verse, verse 5. Jesus says, it's hard for you to kick against the goats. Now that's a statement that is hard for us to understand. What does that even me. A goad was basically a sharpened stick. So back in the first century, instead of putting the …

Beast Games | J.D. Greear

… We have a group of apostles who penned the Bible who said neither is there salvation in any other for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which you must be saved. There's only one savior of all of them that has actually risen from the dead, which means that we follow him and him alone regardless of whatever Caesar says the rules are, okay? So there you have it. The Antichrist and the false prophet unmasked. So now let's return to chapter 12, where John tells us how we're to overcome them and the dragon behind them. Revelation 12, 11, it's one of the greatest verses in the book of Revelation, maybe in the New Testament. And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb. by the word of their testimony, because they love not their lives to the death. They overcame the dragon in every era by three things. Three ways we overcome the dragon. First, by the blood of the lamb. Y'all, that's our primary weapon. …

Credo 2026 | Sola Christus with Rev. Natalie Owens-Pike
Rev. Natalie Owens-Pike, 2026-05-10

… No one comes to the Father except through me. In Acts 4, salvation is found in no one else. for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. In Colossians 1, Christ is before all things and in him all things hold together. Christ is the head of the body, the church, for in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross. So Christ is the head of the body, the church. We say together as Presbyterians that Christ is the head of our church. We're not looking to a human vision only. We're looking also to this vision that we get from the love of Christ and from Christ's life and ministry in the world so this is this is sounding pretty clear you know I'm the way the truth and the life no one can get to the Father except through me this these are very clear scriptures but how does Christ alone challenge us what does this image remind us of what's happening in this image up here a concert worship How do you know? …

Your Only Hope – Part 5
Jack Hibbs, 2026-04-05

… you. How's that? Wow. You want to talk about retirement and pension plan? Jesus is it. One final one, Acts 4. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. And that name is? Father God, we come to you today. God, we pray now in the name of Jesus. While every head's bowed and our eyes are closed and we are sitting still. We don't want to be a disruption. We pray now, Lord God, for the opportunity that's going to make some people very nervous in a moment. People are going to want to leave. I pray that you'd keep them in their seat. In a moment, there'll be those who are going to immediately think of excuses they've never thought of before. I pray that they would not prevail. I ask you Father God that you'd sovereignly seize the atmosphere of this room right now. Everything we've spoken is biblical truth to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ on this day. …

… and there is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. There are so many wonderful names for our Lord. He is Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, Lamb of God, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham. He is the seed of the woman. He is the lion of the tribe of Judah. and we could go on and on and on tonight. But of all these names, none is sweeter to the heart than Jesus. Why is that? Because that one name contains the whole gospel. All that we need, the Father has given to us in Jesus. God loves us enough to send His Son to save us from our sins. How about this other name? What are we confessing when we confess that we believe in Jesus Christ? Well, what we are saying, as the catechism reminds us, is that Jesus is our prophet, priest, and king. This is a name, but really more a title. …

Care Sacrificially – Part 1
David Platt, 2026-02-04

… Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. You've seen a pattern here? Look down at verse 17. To stop this from spreading any further among the people, we must warn these men, they say, to stop speaking, to speak no longer to anyone in this name. Then in verse 18, they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. Even the people who were against them realized we can't stop them, but if we can just get them to stop saying the name, that will affect everything. Come to the end of this chapter, chapter 4, verse 30. All the believers are gathered together praying as they begin to experience persecution. The Bible says, stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus over and over and over again the emphasis is on the name of Christ now what did what did the name of Christ represent well as we study throughout the gospels and especially the book of Acts as it's used 33 times mentioned of the name of Christ basically it's talking about three different facets of the character of Christ number one in order to speak in his name we got to know his person his name represents his person his identity who he is in fact that's exactly what fuels peter's sermon in acts chapter 3 when he stands up to preach …

Cross Words–Words of Power
Guest speaker, 2026-01-25

… There's only one name that binds the world together, and that name, brief as it is, only five letters long, is Jesus. There is no other name given among us by which we might answer all the questions of life, the life to come also. Peter said it so well, there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4 verse 12. Left to ourselves, life is a crossword puzzle with far too many unanswered questions, but knowing the name of Jesus fills in all the blanks. Thinking back to crossword puzzles, I was reminded this week why I don't do them very often. They're too hard. So I went to our public library and I searched for books on crossword puzzles, and I found two of them. One comforted me and the other one overwhelmed me. I started with a book dedicated to complete amateurs in the crossword world. It seemed like a perfect way to step into maybe doing a puzzle or two. And the first pages were encouraging. …

… No longer confused, but convinced. Salvation is found in no one else. For there is no other name under heaven given to mankind, which men must be saved. bold, authoritative, preaching the gospel, not wrestling in doubt, but compelled by the love of Christ that he saw on the cross and in the empty tomb and now convinced that he needed to tell the world about Jesus. Preaches sermons. People get saved. the church is born, the church expands. And this is what's God's call on our lives to be worshipful and to be missional because we have a message.

The Ebenezer Principle I Jentezen Franklin
Jentezen Franklin, 2025-09-08

… The stone rejected by the builders has become the chief cornerstone. And then it goes on to say, neither is there salvation in any other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Jesus, I don't pray to Ebenezer stones. I have Jesus and he is my Ebenezer. Under the new covenant, I just remember the blood of the lamb and the word of my testimony in that rock solid foundation that I built my life on. Is up to this moment, the Lord has helped me. Ephesians 2 and 19 puts it like this. It says that we are built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. Ephesians 2, 19 and 20. Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Isn't that beautiful? Tell somebody I've got a stone of help. Jesus Christ. You see, we too have a place where our sins had caused us to see the glory of God depart from our life. and we were hopeless and we were helpless, but when we prayed and we repented like Samuel and Israel did, the glory came back, and Jesus Christ became our Ebenezer stone. …

… that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Wow. All they asked him was, by what name or power did you do this? And then he preached that. They're astonished that the guy got healed. I'm astonished that he preached this word. They, the elders and the high priest and family were astonished that they were standing right in front of the men who 60 days ago flexed and crucified Jesus. And they're preaching with this kind of boldness, this kind of conviction, this kind of courage. And when they saw, next verse, the courage of Peter and John and realized they were unschooled and ordinary men, they were astonished. This word astonished comes out of the root word of wonder. They were filled with wonder. They were amazed at what they were seeing. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin, and then they conferred together. What are we going to do with these men? Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it. But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name. …

… salvation praise God is found in no one else for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved And how does it happen? it happens by grace through faith. For it is by grace, that's God doing the work, that you have been saved through faith. That's you putting all of your trust in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus that allowed for righteous to be imputed to you. and you said, I believe that with every fiber of my being, I receive it. The Only Way to Heaven (Matthew 7:13-27)
John MacArthur, 2023-04-30

… Those are all singular claims. Acts 4.12 says, there's no salvation in any other name than the name of Jesus. Romans 10.17 says, faith comes by hearing the message concerning Jesus. First Corinthians 16.22 says, if you love not the Lord Jesus Christ, you're damned. And 1 Timothy 2.5 says, there's one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. He's the only gate. You must enter. If you want to be in the kingdom of heaven, you must enter, and you must enter this gate. A third thing to think about is you must enter this gate alone, alone. You leave the world behind. You leave family and friends behind. If you go a few chapters over to chapter 10 of Matthew, Hence In verse 34, Jesus said, Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. …

… And so the apostles will say things like, neither is there salvation in any other, for there's no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Or Jesus, who said, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. Nobody comes to the Father except through me. There's only one way that you can be saved, and that is the way that God has provided. And if you reject Jesus, if you reject him, You are choosing condemnation for yourself. What other course do you have? So yes, you and I are bringing a curse on us by rejecting the incarnation of God here on earth. But for those who love him, also our Lord come, the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. And all God's people said, amen. Let's pray. Why don't you bow your heads if you would. I have to think if the apostle Paul were here and we said, Paul, what's the one thing that you want out of this book? …

… apart from the Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle said in Acts chapter 4, verse 12, neither is there salvation in any other. For there is none other name unto heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. There are those who are telling us that Jesus Christ is one of the ways to heaven and not the only way. And yet that is coming in. IT WILL NOT COME INTO THIS CHURCH SO LONG AS YOU HAVE THE ONE STANDING HERE AS YOUR PASTOR. But they were an intolerant church. No other name than Jesus. And not only were they intolerant of any other plan of salvation, they were intolerant of sin. They didn't put up with sin. Sin was not glossed over. It was not excused. In many churches today, almost anyone gets in and no one gets out. And churches have gone from being a sheepfold to a zoo. This New Testament church was rigid, but I'll tell you something else, it was respected. It was a respected church. …
