When the believers heard this, they lifted up their voices to God with one accord. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “You made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them. When they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord and said, “O Lord, you are God, who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them; And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:And they, when they heard it, lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, O Lord, thou that didst make the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is:

… When they, that is Peter and John, were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and elders had said to them. And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, why did the Gentiles rage and the peoples plod in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his anointed. For truly, in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness while you stretch out your hand to heal and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. Amen. Just a brief prayer, an old Anglican prayer. Father, what we know not, teach us, what we have not give us, what we are not make us. We ask it in Christ's name. Amen. …
… of the earth, all the people in the world all bow down to him. He is sovereign over everything. The early church knew this. Did you catch that in Acts chapter 4 verse 23 through 31? When they came together to pray, here they are experiencing persecution and they come together and how do they address God? Do you remember? It said, sovereign Lord. Sovereign Lord. It's in verse 24. Sovereign Lord, they declared. The word literally means despot, despot, the one who has all authority and all dominion and all rule. And that was huge for them. When you're experiencing persecution, when your family is being threatened and you're experiencing attacks from different sides, it's good to look up and see that God is still in control, that he's still on the throne. And it's the same picture we see in Acts chapter 12. You've got the king, Herod, pitted against the true king, the king to whom all kings bow down. And you've got the power of King Herod and him having Peter put in prison and have James beheaded. …
… BOOK OF ACTS, ONE OF THE GREAT CHAPTERS IS CHAPTER FOUR AND IT SPEAKS OF PUBLIC PRAYER. IN ACTS CHAPTER FOUR VERSE 24, AND WHEN THEY HEARD THAT, THEY LIFTED UP THEIR VOICE TO GOD WITH ONE ACCORD AND SAID, LORD, THOU ART GOD WHICH HATH MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH AND THE SEA AND ALL THAT IN THEM IS. TOGETHER THEY PRAYED AND GOD IS GLORIFIED WHEN PEOPLE COME TOGETHER TO PRAY. AND AS A MATTER OF FACT, HE'S GOING TO GIVE US AN ILLUSTRATION OF HOW TO PRAY WHEN HE SAYS, OUR FATHER, NOT MY FATHER, BUT OUR FATHER. PEOPLE ARE PRAYING TOGETHER. DON'T BE ASHAMED TO PRAY IN PUBLIC. THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH PUBLIC PRAYER. WHEN YOU GO INTO A RESTAURANT AND A MEAL IS SET BEFORE YOU AND YOU BOW YOUR HEAD AT HOME TO THANK GOD FOR THE MEAL, BOW YOUR HEAD IN THAT RESTAURANT AND THANK GOD FOR THE MEAL. AND DON'T CARE WHO SAYS OR WHO SEES. YOU DON'T DO IT TO BE SEEN OF MEN, BUT YOU'RE NOT ASHAMED TO BE SEEN OF MEN. FOR JESUS SAID, LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE BEFORE MEN THAT THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS AND GLORIFY YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN. …
