… the scripture. Let's look at verses 30 to 35. so Philip ran to him and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah and said do you understand what you are reading and he said how can I unless someone guides me and he asked Philip to come up and sit with him the place in the scripture which he read was he was led as a sheep to the slaughter and as a lamb before its shearer is silent so he opened not his mouth in his humiliation his justice was taken away. And who will declare his generation for his life is taken from the earth? So the eunuch answered Philip and said, I ask of you, of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth and beginning at this scripture, preached Jesus to him. So number one, we need to adapt to the situation. Number two, We need to apprehend the scripture. Look at verse 30 one more time. It continues by saying, so Philip ran to him and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. And he said, and I love this question. It's such a simple question. And by the way, this is a great question, the idea of this, to ask to your friends, to those in this world. Do you understand what you're reading? Do you understand what you're reading? Philip obeys God and he seizes the opportunity. He overhears this individual reading out loud scripture from the Old Testament. And it's a prophetic message. We continue on, verse 31. And he said, how can I? Unless someone guides me. He invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Now the passage of scripture that he was reading was this. It was Isaiah 53. And it was actually a literal prophetic message on the coming Messiah. Or in this case, the Messiah that had already come. So then it continues on. Verse 34. The eunuch said to Philip, Who is this writer talking about? Is it himself? Is it someone else? what is the eunuch saying I don't know but I want to know do you know how many people I come in contact with where I hear those words I want to grow closer to God I want to know more but we fail to realize that that opportunity was meant for us to say something and then it continues one of my favorite verse, verse 35 then Philip opened his mouth. And beginning with the scripture, he told him about the good news of Jesus. …

Then the spirit said to Philip, go over to this chariot and join it. So Philip ran up to it and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah. He asked, do you understand what you are reading? He replied, how can I unless someone guides me? And he invited Philip to get in and sit beside him. Now, the passage of scripture that he was reading was this. Like a sheep, he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb, silent before its shearer. So he does not open his mouth. In his humiliation, justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? for his life is taken away from the earth. The eunuch, the African, the Ethiopian, asked Philip, about whom, may I ask you, does the prophet say this? About himself or someone else? And then Philip began to speak. Starting with this scripture, he proclaimed to him, the African, the good news about Jesus. As they were going along the road, they came to some water and the African, the eunuch, said, Look here, here is water. What is to prevent me from being baptized? …
