Deuteronomy 28

¹“Now if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God and are careful to follow all His commandments I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that Jehovah thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth: ²And all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you will obey the voice of the LORD your God:All these blessings will come upon you, and overtake you, if you listen to Yahweh your God’s voice.And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.and all these blessings shall come upon thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God. ³You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field.Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. ⁴The fruit of your womb will be blessed, as well as the produce of your land and the offspring of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.You shall be blessed in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock.Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy beasts, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flock. ⁵Your basket and kneading bowl will be blessed.Your basket and your kneading trough shall be blessed.Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.Blessed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough. ⁶You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.You shall be blessed when you come in, and you shall be blessed when you go out.Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. ⁷The LORD will cause the enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you. They will march out against you in one direction but flee from you in seven.Yahweh will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways.The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.Jehovah will cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thee: they shall come out against thee one way, and shall flee before thee seven ways. ⁸The LORD will decree a blessing on your barns and on everything to which you put your hand; the LORD your God will bless you in the land He is giving you.Yahweh will command the blessing on you in your barns, and in all that you put your hand to. He will bless you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.Jehovah will command the blessing upon thee in thy barns, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto; and he will bless thee in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee. ⁹The LORD will establish you as His holy people, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways.Yahweh will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and walk in his ways.The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.Jehovah will establish thee for a holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee; if thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, and walk in his ways. ¹⁰Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will stand in awe of you.All the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by Yahweh’s name, and they will be afraid of you.And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.And all the peoples of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of Jehovah; and they shall be afraid of thee. ¹¹The LORD will make you prosper abundantly—in the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land—in the land that the LORD swore to your fathers to give you.Yahweh will grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give you.And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.And Jehovah will make thee plenteous for good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers to give thee. ¹²The LORD will open the heavens, His abundant storehouse, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations, but borrow from none.Yahweh will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.Jehovah will send upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy hand unto to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me. ²¹The LORD will make the plague cling to you until He has exterminated you from the land that you are entering to possess.Yahweh will make the pestilence cling to you, until he has consumed you from off the land where you go in to possess it.The Lord shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.Jehovah will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest in to possess it. ²²The LORD will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, and with blight and mildew; these will pursue you until you perish.Yahweh will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with fiery heat, with the sword, with blight, and with mildew. They will pursue you until you perish.The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.Jehovah will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. ²³The sky over your head will be bronze, and the earth beneath you iron.Your sky that is over your head will be bronze, and the earth that is under you will be iron.And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. ²⁴The LORD will turn the rain of your land into dust and powder; it will descend on you from the sky until you are destroyed.Yahweh will make the rain of your land powder and dust. It will come down on you from the sky, until you are destroyed.The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.Jehovah will make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed. ²⁵The LORD will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will march out against them in one direction but flee from them in seven. You will be an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.Yahweh will cause you to be struck before your enemies. You will go out one way against them, and will flee seven ways before them. You will be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.Jehovah will cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and shalt flee seven ways before them: and thou shalt be tossed to and from among all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶Your corpses will be food for all the birds of the air and beasts of the earth, with no one to scare them away.Your dead bodies will be food to all birds of the sky, and to the animals of the earth; and there will be no one to frighten them away.And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.And thy dead body shall be food unto all birds of the heavens, and unto the beasts of the earth; and there shall be none to frighten them away. ²⁷The LORD will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors and scabs and itch from which you cannot be cured.Yahweh will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with the tumors, with the scurvy, and with the itch, of which you can not be healed.The Lord will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.Jehovah will smite thee with the boil of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scurvy, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed. ²⁸The LORD will afflict you with madness, blindness, and confusion of mind,Yahweh will strike you with madness, with blindness, and with astonishment of heart.The Lord shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:Jehovah will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart; ²⁹and at noon you will grope about like a blind man in the darkness. You will not prosper in your ways. Day after day you will be oppressed and plundered, with no one to save you.You will grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways. You will only be oppressed and robbed always, and there will be no one to save you.And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.and thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and robbed alway, and there shall be none to save thee. ³⁰You will be pledged in marriage to a woman, but another man will violate her. You will build a house, and you won’t dwell in it. All your days you will be oppressed and crushed.A nation which you don’t know will eat the fruit of your ground and all of your work. You will only be oppressed and crushed always,The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:The fruit of thy ground, and all thy labors, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway; ³⁴You will be driven mad by the sights you see.so that the sights that you see with your eyes will drive you mad.So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. ³⁵The LORD will afflict you with painful, incurable boils on your knees and thighs, from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.Yahweh will strike you in the knees and in the legs with a sore boil, of which you cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the crown of your head.The Lord shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.Jehovah will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the crown of thy head. ³⁶The LORD will bring you and the king you appoint to a nation neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone.Yahweh will bring you, and your king whom you will set over yourselves, to a nation that you have not known, you nor your fathers. He will be the head, and you will be the tail.He will lend to you, and you won’t lend to him. He will place an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.therefore you will serve your enemies whom Yahweh sends against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in lack of all things. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies that Jehovah shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee. ⁴⁹The LORD will bring a nation from afar, from the ends of the earth, to swoop down upon you like an eagle—a nation whose language you will not understand,Yahweh will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies: a nation whose language you will not understand,The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;Jehovah will bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; ⁵⁰a ruthless nation with no respect for the old and no pity for the young.a nation of fierce facial expressions, that doesn’t respect the elderly, nor show favor to the young.A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:a nation of fierce countenance, that shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young, ⁵¹They will eat the offspring of your livestock and the produce of your land until you are destroyed.
