… by the way. This could be a whole other angle to this talk. This has been God's plan all along. God's whole plan is to have a people on earth. Deuteronomy chapter 7, verse 6 in the ESV. I don't think it's going to come up. It's not on my pad, but it says, for you are a people holy to the Lord, your God. The Lord, your God has chosen you, talking about the people of Israel, to be a people for his treasured possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. So God started with Abraham. He eventually formed a people and out of all the idol worshipers and God rebellers on the planet, God wanted to have a people in the midst of them to say, watch them. And then through Christ, we got grafted in to the people. You don't have to be in the line of Abraham on a physical sense because we spiritually now are grafted in to become God's possession. …

Talk about separation. That's stunning. separation so critical that He actually told Israel to be His executioner because the potential danger was cataclysmic. In Isaiah chapter 30, woe to the rebellious children, declares the Lord, who execute a plan but not mine, who make an alliance but not of My Spirit in order to add sin to sin, proceed down to Egypt without consulting me, to take refuge in the safety of Pharaoh, and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt. Therefore, the safety of Pharaoh will be your shame, and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt your humiliation. For their princes are at Zoan, and their ambassadors arrive at Hannes. Everyone will be ashamed because of a people who cannot profit them, who are not for help or profit, but for shame and for reproach. I honestly thought of that as I watched evangelicals trying to support BLM movement that was rioting in the street, burning and looting. How can there be some alliance at that point, or any alliance? …

First. Christians are a holy nation by a relative holiness, as they are set apart by God for a divine and holy use. So things are often called holy in Scripture. The utensils of the tabernacle and temple are in this sense called holy; the priests’ garments are called holy, the places of worship appointed of God in the Old Testament are called holy, because they were set apart by him for a holy use and service. Things thus set apart are said to he sanctified. Thus Jeremiah is said to have been sanctified, before he came forth out of the womb. Jer. i. 5. “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee, and before thou earnest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee; and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” God sanctified, that is, God set him apart for this holy use and service, to be a prophet to the nations, as Paul says of himself, Gal. i. 15. “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace.” So the people of Israel of old seem to be called a holy nation. Deut. vii. 6. “For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon me face of the earth.” Not that they were a holy people by inherent holiness, for God often tells them that they are a stiff-necked people. But God had called and separated them from other nations to be the keepers of the sacred oracles, and for other purposes. …
