He humbled you, and in your hunger He gave you manna to eat, which neither you nor your fathers had known, so that you might understand that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live.

… and let's look at it really quickly he says in verse 2 he says and you shall remember the lord you shall remember that the lord your god led you all the way these 40 years in the wilderness but watch this so that was the what but here he gives the why to humble you and to test you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments and know. That is the statement right there. He tells them. He reveals to them. And if he reveals it to them later, that meant that there was some sort of profit in him not showing it to them while they were in it. Oh, we're going to have a good time today. And for us, it speaks to how sometimes there are things happening, perhaps in your life right now that what you can't see is God doing something behind the scenes and it may not make sense now but there will come a time in your life where it will track with me and so so you know people ask me sometimes they say you know if you had to tell your your younger self one thing there's one thing you'd have to tell your younger self or if you had to tell the younger generation, if there's this one tip you would give them, one thing you would want them to understand, what is it? …
… that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not, as he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Let's move down to verse 11. Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and the statute which I command you today. Lest when you have eaten and are full and have build good houses and live in them. And when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart will be lifted up and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, who led you through great and terrifying wilderness with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock, who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know that he might humble you and test you to do good in the end. Beware lest you say in your heart, my power and the might of my hand have gotten me this well. You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, …
… keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone. Jesus is going to quote this later in the talk today, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. And look what happened to them in the wilderness. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these 40 years. Now, if you're in my demographic, that means something to you and you're kind of happy about that. If you're not, just move on. Isn't that fun? I was hoping somebody would enjoy that. Younger people don't know. That's okay. That's fine. Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you. Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him. For the Lord your God, this is where I want you to focus, is bringing you into a good land, a land with brooks and streams and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills, a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil, and honey, a land where bread will not be scarce and you will lack nothing. A land where the rocks are iron and you can dig copper out of the hills. This is about thriving in the promised land. Sure, in the wilderness, God did miracles. There was manna …
… the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water. One verse from Matthew chapter 4 verse 4. The Bible says, Jesus answered, it is written, man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Say amen to that, somebody. I want to take those two words from verse 4. Put it up again, please. Jesus answered. The title I'd like to preach to you from today is two words. he answered. Turn around and hug five people on your way to your seat. Say, I'm so glad he answered. I'm glad he picked up my call, my collect call. I'm glad he paid the price for me. He answered. I'm grateful because he answered. I'm standing here today because he answered. He answered. I asked him for another day and he gave it. He answered. I asked him to help me keep my mind together. Somebody put it in the chat. Say, he answered. Say it out loud at every location. He answered. Aren't you glad you have a God who answers prayers? …
… KNOW IT. MATTHEW 4, 4, WHERE JESUS SAID, MAN SHALL NOT LIVE by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Every word. Now people say, oh, well, the Bible, the thoughts are inspired, but the words are not inspired. That's ridiculous. You can't have thoughts without words anymore. You could have math without numbers. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Hebrews 30, excuse me, Proverbs 30, verse 5, every word of God is pure. Now, if the Bible is the word of God, can it have error? It's impossible. How could a God of truth inspire error? If it's God's word, then you know there's the absolute perfection. And the second thing I want you to think about is the wonderful character of the word of God. You see, when the Bible calls itself the Word of God, that says something more than its perfection because God gives the same term to the Bible that He gives to His Son. …
