… The Lord said to Moses, this very thing that you have spoken, I will do. For you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name. That is the coolest thing that any of us could receive. I mean, think about God, the creator of everything. And he says to Moses, this very thing you have spoken, I'll do for you. for you have found favor in my sight and I know you by name. Is there anything on earth that you want more than this? Seriously, think about this. Then for the creator, God Almighty, to say, you have found favor in my sight and I know you by name. This is sacred. This should be the desire of our lives. Everything else is common, but to come into the presence of God and have him say, you have found favor in my sight. I know you by name. I hope that's the desire of your life. and we just close with these last three verses where moses said in verse 18 please show me your glory and god said i will make all my goodness pass before you and and will proclaim before you my name the lord and i will be gracious to whom i will be gracious and i will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. God Our Friend
Tim Keller, 2000-09-24 · Scripture reading

… Now, today we're looking at this fascinating spot in verse 11 where it says, The Lord would speak to Moses face to face as a man speaks with his friend. What's friendship with God? Why would God dare call himself our friend? And let's ask the question of the text like this. Why is friendship with God so important? So why is it so important? Then secondly, what it is? And thirdly, what it brings? And lastly, how we get it. Why it's important, what it is, what it brings, how we can get it. Now, number one, why is it important? You have to understand this incident here where Moses goes out to the tent of meeting and gets things from God. You see, for example, it says, whenever Moses would go out, all the people rose and stood at the entrance of the tent. Anyone inquiring of the Lord would ask Moses, and then Moses would go into the tent, what is this all about? It's very simple. …
