Dave Baxter | The Lord of the Supper
Dave Baxter, 2026-07-20

… This is the incredible news of the gospel, that in Christ, He not only can, but He is. Galatians 5, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. Romans 6, we know that our old self was crucified with him. 2 Corinthians 5, for our sake he made him who knew no sin to be sin so that in him we might become the very righteousness of God. This is true for every individual who puts their trust and faith in Christ. His suffering was ours. His satisfaction was our satisfaction. His obedience, his righteousness, it's ours. Through faith we are united to him and it is as if we had personally suffered. And made satisfaction for our sins. And so Scott Clark again says this. When we receive the supper in faith, we receive a visible, tangible experience of what's promised in the gospel preached. Each time we eat the supper in faith, it's a little catechism. Now you didn't know this. …

Aaron Andrade | Redeemed from the Curse
Aaron Andrade, 2026-04-13

… by the crucifixion was cursed by God. Now if you'll turn with me to Galatians chapter 3, we're going to be in Galatians 3 verses 10 through 14. Galatians 3, verses 10 through 14. hear the word of the Lord For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law and do them. Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for the righteous shall live by faith. But the law is not of faith. rather the one who does them shall live by them. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us for it is written cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles so that we might receive the promised spirit through faith. Let's pray. …

Someone Worth Having
Michael Zeigler, 2025-09-20

… And this is a wonderful gift of God. In fact, this prepares us, right, for the curse of the cross, Galatians 3.13, which has turned into the absolute blessing of forgiveness and resurrection promises on Easter. So we could say that this Aaronic blessing is part and parcel of the whole book of Numbers. Thank you so much. You've helped dispel some false beliefs about numbers, that it's just boring for people interested in intermediate algebra, but it's actually quite practical. It speaks to us in these in-between times. Thank you, and we'll have you back, and we'll talk more about numbers going forward. Taught by Jesus and trusting in his promises, we are bold to pray.

… That's evident because the righteous man shall live by faith. Then verse 13, "'Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us.'" If you don't understand what it is that humanity faces because everyone who has ever broken the law of God is cursed, if you don't understand that, then you don't understand the full undergirding reality of the sacrifice of Christ. You say a curse is a terrible thing. It's a terrible thing. It's the worst thing possible to be cursed by God. has ever broken His law is cursed by God. Curses all through the Scripture are promised and given to those who reject Him. And if it's horrible to think about that, then think what the cross is, where Christ became a curse for us. He bore all the judgment of all those who were cursed and who believe in Him. Now there's theological warrant for this, for God's judgment, for Him to be praised. I'll just give you four things to think about, four features. …

… AND JESUS FULFILLED THE LAW BY DYING FOR OUR SIN. AND THE BIBLE TELLS US IN GALATIANS CHAPTER THREE AND VERSE 13 THAT HE HAS REDEEMED US FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW BECAUSE HE WAS MADE A CURSE FOR US. HE CARRIED MY SIN TO THE CROSS. AND YOU SEE, HE PAID AND MET THE RIGHTEOUS DEMANDS OF THE LAW, AND THAT'S WHAT HE MEANT WHEN HE HUNG HIS HEAD WHEN HE DIED AND SAID, TETALESTI, THAT MEANS IT IS PAID IN FULL. I HAVE FULFILLED THE JUDICIAL DEMANDS OF THE LAW. I FULFILLED THE LAW. I PAID IN FULL. MAN'S SIN HAS BEEN PAID FOR. AND THEREFORE, THE BIBLE SAYS IN ROMANS CHAPTER TEN AND VERSE FOUR, FOR CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS TO EVERYONE THAT BELIEVETH. WHY? BECAUSE HE FULFILLED THE LAW. WE'RE NOT UNDER THE LAW ANYMORE BECAUSE JESUS HAS FULFILLED THE LAW. THE LAW SAYS, DO THIS AND THOU SHALT LIVE. THE GOSPEL SAYS, LIVE AND THEN THOU SHALT DO. THE LAW SAYS, PAY ME ALL THAT YOU OWE. BUT THE GOSPEL SAYS, I FREELY FORGIVE THEE ALL. THE LAW SAYS, THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART, WITH ALL THY SOUL AND WITH ALL THY MIND. BUT THE GOSPEL SAYS, HEREIN HIS LOVE, NOT THAT WE, AH, LOVE GOD, BUT THAT HE LOVED US AND SENT HIS SON TO BE THE PROPITIATION, THE SATISFACTION FOR OUR SINS. THE LAW SAYS, CURSED IS EVERYONE THAT CONTINUETH NOT IN ALL THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW TO DO THEM. …
