It Begins And Ends With Israel – Part 2
Robert Jeffress, 2026-09-22

… himself? Because he was headed to a literal land. Yeah, he was looking for heaven too. Hebrews 11, 10 says he was looking for that city with foundations whose architect and builder is God. But even though he was looking for a heavenly home, that didn't negate the fact that he was also looking for an earthly home as well. Secondly, I want you to notice that this promise was eternal. It wasn't just for a specified time. God said in Genesis 13, he reaffirmed, Abraham, this land is going to be yours forever. Look at Genesis 13 verses 14 and 15. And the Lord said to Abraham, after Lot had separated from him, now I want you to lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, from all the land which you see, I will give it to you and your descendants for how long? Forever. Let me tell you, forever is a long time. We have a hard time as mortal beings understanding what eternity is like. …

Pastor Ralph Douglas West - Five Generations And One Promise | Hebrews 1:18-12
Ralph Douglas West, 2026-06-24 · Scripture reading

… in a foreign country he lived in tents and as did Isaac and Jacob who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations whose architect and builder is God. And by faith even Sarah who was past childbearing age was and able to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man and as good as dead came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless at the sand of the seashore. Before you sit down let me read verse 9 again. I want you to hear this, see if you can pick up on this subtle line. By faith, Abraham made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country. He lived in tents as did Isaac and Jacob who were heirs with him of the same promise. this is the word of God you may be seated I want to tag this text this morning. …

… Well, you know, we couldn't ask for a better architect for our future heavenly home. Notice this, Hebrews chapter 11, verse 10. as Abraham looked toward the future, it says there at the end of that verse that he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. Abraham longed for heaven, a permanent city, a city with foundations. I think many of us can relate with Abraham's longing. But notice the architect and builder of this city, the new Jerusalem is the best architect of all time. God himself. On the eve of his crucifixion, Jesus was gathered there together in the upper room with his disciples and he let them know that he was going to be returning to heaven soon. Well, of course, this was troubling to them. They had just spent three years with him. But notice what he told them in John 14, verse one. He said, let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. …

… I know you're on a journey together. I want you to open the Word of God with me to the story of the journeyer in Hebrews chapter 11 verses 8 through 12. If I call this message something, I'd call it Pack Up and Go. because that's the story of the patriarch, the father of all of those on the journey of faith. And you have an abridgment, a digest, a synopsis, a condensation of his whole life in the book of Genesis found here in Hebrews 11. Would you look at the word of God from verse 8? By faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out not knowing where he was going. By faith, he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country. dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise, for he waited for a city which had foundations, whose builder and maker is God. …

Concrete Faith | Joel Gregory
Joel C. Gregory, 2023-02-22 · Scripture reading

… as did Isaac and Jacob who were heirs with him of the same promise. for he looked forward to the city that has foundations whose architect and builder is God. By faith he received power to procreation, even though he was too old and Sarah herself was barren because he considered him unfaithful who promised. Therefore from one person and this one as good as dead, descendants were born as many as the stars of heaven and the innumerable gardens of sand by the seashore. An example of concrete faith. Would you pray with me again? eternal God God of the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Spirit, indeed God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I ask you that now these words written in a world that was would be anointed in the world right now that is. these words from over there would come to life here. And I pray that not just by the letter only, but by the presence of your spirit, you will speak to the needs of every heart here and beyond here. …
