… your voice, so that heaven is not silent. Heaven is speaking through the voices of his people. God is speaking today. And the Bible says this, today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts. Do not harden your hearts. What is God saying today? He's still saying, come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. He's still saying, drink of this water of the world. You'll thirst again. But whoever drinks of the water that I give will never thirst. He's saying that. And he is saying to us, it is finished. Paid in full. transaction is complete it's finished the question is are you finished yet running from him are you done yet doing your own thing trying to come up with your own plans and not letting God rule your life are you finished with that and will you turn to him he died for you and he conquered death proving that we can have a living hope which is what i'm going to be talking about on easter living hope can be yours tonight good friday this good friday can be your great friday If you receive the greatest gift ever given to us. …
… here's what it says. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion on the day of testing in the wilderness. Today, you see what the author of Hebrews is doing. He's taking a passage that was many years ago when God's people were rebellious, and now he's applying it here to this congregation of people and saying that moment, that warning, that word from the Holy Spirit spoken years ago is still with you. And that same Holy Spirit speaks that word to us today if you hear his voice. So here's the thought I encourage you with as you enjoy the music this evening. You think, how should I listen to these songs? Well, enjoy the common grace gifts of instruments and singing and music and enjoy the preparation from all of our musicians. And maybe you see someone that you know and love up here singing and maybe you love the Christmas spirit and season. All of that is good. But consider that word today. …
… Hebrews 3, 7. And therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as when they provoked Me, as in the day of trial in the wilderness, where your fathers tried Me by testing Me and saw My works for forty years. I was angry with this generation, and said, they always go astray in their heart, and they did not know My ways. As I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest." You better enter while you can, because the day can come when you will not be allowed. Verse 12 continues, "'Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day.'" This is the responsibility we have to each other. "'Encourage one another day after day as long as it is still called today, so that But none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. …
… Another warning comes in chapter 3 of Hebrews, verse 7, Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as when they provoked me, as in the day of trial in the wilderness. This goes back to the same thing that 1 Corinthians 12 is referring to, the Exodus. Today, don't harden your heart. Where your fathers tried me, verse 9, by testing me and saw my works for forty years, forty years of miracles for vision. I was angry with this generation and said, They always go astray in their heart, and they did not know my ways. As I swore in my wrath, they shall not enter my rest. Don't feel like that. Chapter 4, let us fear, verse 1, if while a promise remains of entering His rest, any of you may seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have heard, we have had good news preached to us, just as they also. But the word they heard didn't profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. …
