So the redeemed of the LORD will return and enter Zion with singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee. Then Yahweh’s ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.and the ransomed of Jehovah shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

… here's the way Isaiah talks about it all the way back 700 years before Jesus he says the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing everlasting joy shall be upon their heads they shall obtain joy and gladness and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. So that's the day that's coming. But that's not the day that's here yet. It's not where we live yet. So let me close with this. For now, how do joy and sorrow relate? On the one hand, they coexist in the Christian life. Paul talks in 2 Corinthians 6 about being sorrowful yet always rejoicing the sorrows didn't push the joy out the joy was deeper it was thicker it helped him endure, they coexisted so don't think that to have joy you got to push out all the sorrows or that when sorrows comes it pushes out all the joy they coexist in the Christian life and in 1 Peter chapter 1 verses 6 and 7 he says in the living hope of Jesus risen from the dead he's a living hope in him you rejoice there's joy though for a little while if necessary you have been grieved by various trials you rejoice though you're grieved so joy and sadness coexist in the Christian life and secondly and finally sorrows now prepare us for greater joy to come the joy will be greater in the end because of enduring sorrows now by faith and so Paul says in 2nd Corinthians 4 17 that our slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an …
"No sinner can be beforehand with You." If you really desire to have God as your God, and Christ as your Savior, God desires it, too, and Christ desires it. If you are willing to be saved, do not imagine that Christ is unwilling to save you! If you are coming to Christ, Christ is coming to you. No, He HAS come to you, or you would never want to come to Him! "Only believe." These are Christ's words to you now—believe that He is able to save you through the merit of His atoning Sacrifice and through the prevalence of His intercession before His Father's Throne above. Trust Him! Trust Him to save you now, and then you also shall be among the redeemed of the Lord who shall return and come with singing unto Zion! Everlasting joy shall be upon your head! You shall obtain gladness and joy—and sorrow and mourning shall flee away from you forever!
There are no mud holes on the holy highway and no Tennessee trash going to be, uh, following that holy highway. And if, if your heart is full of sin and filth and dirt and you've never repented, don't tell me you're on the holy highway. The Bible says here, it is the way of holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it. It's a clean way. And I'll tell you it's a certain way. It's delightfully clean, it's delightfully certain. He says, a wayfaring man though a fool shall not earth therein. Do you know what that means? A wayfaring man though a fool shall not earth therein, it means a stranger without good sense can find his way on the holy highway. You don't have to have a Ph.D. TO travel this holy highway. The Bible says God hath hidden these things from the wise and the prudent and hath revealed them unto babes. And you may be here today and you say, you know, Pastor Rogers, I don't know much about religion. I don't know much about the Bible. I don't understand all that you're saying. Well, my friend, let me tell you that Jesus Christ loves you and it is so clean and so pure and so simple. …
