… What's the antidote? Isaiah chapter 40, verses 28 to 31. It says this, the New Living Translation. Don't you know that the Lord is the everlasting God and he created everything on this earth? Now that took a lot of energy to create everything on this earth and on the planets and in the international space station and everywhere, everything. Anyway, it says, and he never grows tired or weary. God never gets tired. You say, what about what it says after the six days of creation, he rested? that to model it for human beings. He wanted to create the Sabbath. God does not get tired. He doesn't get worn out. So it says, he never grows tired or weary, which means the more time you spend with him, the more it's going to energize you. He never grows tired or weary. Instead, he gives strength to those who are weary. That's you. And worn out. That's you. And he gives power to the weak. That's you. Even young people become exhausted and want to give up. Millennials, Gen Z, they're tired too. Even young people become exhausted and want to give up, but those who trust and wait on the Lord will find new strength. Flying high like eagles, and they'll run and not grow weary and they'll keep going and not faint. So here's the point. When you are stressed by constant, continual, major changes, like you're going through right now, don't seek a quick fix. It's not in what you drink or the drug you take or what you smoke. …
… says it best when he says, God is not too great to care. He's too great not to care. That's the God we serve. He's not too great to care. He's too great not to care. Again, God says that in Isaiah 40 verses 29 to 31, he gives strength to the weary. And to them who lacks might, he increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait upon the Lord will gain new strength. They will mount up with the wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weary. If you don't remember anything else, I've said in this sermon, remember this, the same power of God that is on dramatic display during these five times in history is working in your life right now. But there are four principles that we need to understand if we're going to harness and experience that same miracle working power in our life today. I want you to write these four principles down. Principle number one for experiencing God's power. God's power is primarily for his children. God's power is primarily for his children. That doesn't mean non-Christians don't experience the power of God. …
Because the Bible says, even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men and women will utterly fall. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew your strength. They shall mount up, this is your promise today, with wings like eagles. Resurrection gives you wings. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. So Father, I pray now for every believer who today is struggling with apathy. God, you've opened our eyes to see the ways that we are not engaged fully in what matters most. And I pray you'd give us strength and power to fight against that apathy, to shake it off, and to keep running so that we are not lacking in zeal, but full of spiritual fervor as we serve the Lord. You can put your hands down. I now want to invite anybody who's come into the doors of our church or you've joined us on YouTube or Facebook or church online. and you've not trusted in Christ for salvation, as we continue to pray with our heads bowed and our eyes closed, just thinking about where we're at with God, I asked you this question today. …
… he increases strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. He sees, he hears, he knows. and still today God is not disengaged from our lives to where we suffer without him seeing us to where we suffer without him hearing our cries to where we suffer without him knowing what we are going through we call out to a God that is aware and attentive to us and he knows our suffering much more than we give him credit. The suffering servant of Isaiah 53, the Messiah, Jesus, the Christ, being prophesied of here, tells us of him that he is despised and rejected by man, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Oh, he understands suffering, all right. our Lord even wept at the tomb of Lazarus you ever thought about that? …
… the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint. This is God's word. We're doing a series on who God is, and the thesis has been that God reveals himself in the Bible under many images, under many figures. He's father and friend and lover and king. And if we take any one of those images and lift it up to the exclusion of the others, or even lifted up in favor of the others, you come up with a one-dimensional God. You come up with a cartoon God, a God like those one-dimensional characters in those action movies that get blown away. There's no personal engagement with a God like that. …
