How God Treats His Sheep - Part 2
Rick Warren, 2026-07-30

… Look up here on the screen. Isaiah 53 verse five says this. He, Jesus, was crushed for the sins we did and the punishment we deserved was given to him. So now we're healed because of his wounds. You say, wait a minute, I'm not ever gonna be punished for my sins? Not if you've trusted Christ for your salvation. I'm not ever gonna be judged for those sins? Not if you've trusted Christ for your salvation because he took the punishment. He took the judgment. And so don't ever, if you are a Christian, if you know the Lord, don't you ever, ever again say God's getting even me. Because that means he was saying that what Jesus did for you was not enough. God's not gonna let the punishment of your sins go on Christ and then put it on you too. It's already been paid for. You say, I get to go scot-free? Yep. Well, that's not fair. Who said it was fair? It's called grace. Grace is when God gives you what you need, not what you deserve. …

… details, you've got to read that this guy was saying this 700 years before it happened. Only God could have told him this. And in Isaiah 53, verses 5 and 6, it says this about Jesus, 700 years before Jesus arrived. He was wounded and crushed for our sins. This is on the cross. He was beaten and he took our punishment so that we might have peace. And through his wounds, our wounds are healed. All of us have strayed away like sheep. You know, sheep I told you last week are not real smart. We've all done our own thing. We've left God's path to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the guilt and sins of us all. Now, what I just read to you is the most basic fundamental truth of the Bible. If this wasn't true, we could all go home right now. because we wouldn't have anything at all if Jesus Christ hadn't come to pay for your sins. But the most basic truth is that he did, that everything you're gonna do wrong in life, including the stuff you're gonna do tonight and tomorrow and next week and 10 years from today, it's already been paid for. …

Where is God When Life Hurts?
Pastor Taylor Bronisz, 2026-07-15

surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. Yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted, but he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him. And by his stripes, we are healed. God answered the problem of evil when he looked at evil and he said, I'll take it on for you. I'll suffer for you. I'll suffer with you. So don't walk out of here saying, Christians don't know how to answer the problem of evil. Yes, we do. Look at the cross. That's how God answered with the problem of evil. He says, I will deal with it myself. I will feel it myself. And I will defeat evil and death myself. there is reason to praise we do not have reason as christians to give into despair when we know that our god will triumph yes he is the the lamb he's the good shepherd but he is also a divine warrior like this book promises one day those who are evil will have to face up to him not our justice they'll have to look at the living god in the face and that is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God. So no matter what you are facing tonight, there is still reason to praise God. Even if you don't have the answer that you want yet, doesn't mean that there isn't one. Just because you haven't seen God's promise fulfilled, …

I Don’t Think I’m Asking for A Lot
Jamal Bryant, 2026-06-21

Worship him. He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace is upon his shoulders. Worship him. Hallelujah. Softly, sir. You may be seated. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. The Levites who are the worshipers. they were consecrated as the priest. They had the charge of the maintenance of the temple. And the Bible records for us that their inheritance was the Lord. It's a healthy inheritance to know that the Lord is my portion. Hallelujah. He is the joy and the strength of my life. I'm looking for my church. In him I move. In him I live. In him I have my very being. I can't live without him. I can't move without him. From the rising of the sun to the going down of the sun. the Levites were worshipers and their portion was the inheritance of the glory of God. When we turn the chapter and go to chapter 14, you find the tribe of Judah and the people from the tribe of Judah were not known for being worshipers. …

… It's also about emotional healing. And that's why Isaiah 53 verse five says, when he was wounded, it was for our transgressions. He was bruised, it was for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon him and by his stripes, we are what? Healed. He wants to heal you. How do you participate in that healing? You have to first of all, own your part. Whatever part of this you do own, you need to own it. You need to say, was I complicit in my own suffering in any way? and you need to own whatever of it you can. It may be very little, it may be very much, but you've got to own your part. That's the first step to walking in emotional healing. Then secondly, you have to acknowledge the harm done by others and its impact. Those are two different things. The trauma is the event, but the living hell is the results, the way that that event has a continued impact on your life. …

A Conversation About Heaven
Guest speaker, 2026-03-22

… Jesus was lift up and he bore our sin. Look at Isaiah 53 verse 5. It says, he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him and by his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to his own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He has laid on him, on Jesus, the iniquity of us all. John 8, 28, Jesus said, when you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he. In the same way that that bronze snake was lifted up on the pole, Jesus was lifted up on the cross. And anyone who will look to him can be healed. We are all bitten by sin. you're all born separated from God but you need to be born again if you want to go into the kingdom of God and we're talking true biblical faith look at James 2 17 James 2 17 James says faith by itself if it does not have works is dead now you might say well wait a minute you just said a moment ago that Abraham could not be justified before God because of his works and I would say absolutely you'll say, well, wait a minute, but this says faith by itself, if it does not have works, it's the order. If you try to put works before faith and be justified before God by your works, …

… Through his bruises we get healed. Isaiah 53 verses 4 and 5. Remember, if sickness entered the world in the back seat of sin's sedan, and Jesus came to deal with sin, which he did, that then means he has dealt with sickness once and for all. Let me try it this way. There is, when you said yes to Christ, a seed of health that has been planted in your body. just as a seed of grace has been planted within you. And as you can be so confident that the day is coming in which you will live in a sinless world, you can equally say the day is coming in which we will inhabit a sick-less world. In the meantime, God uses the sin and the sickness, even to his glory. What Satan wants to use to discourage us, like our sin, becomes our proclamation of grace to the glory of God. And what Satan wants to use our sickness, God uses to his glory as he displays his power by healing us. …

Isaiah 53 and five says, but he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought you and I peace was on him. And by his stripes, his wounds, we are healed. Isaiah 53.10 says it like this, yet it was the Lord's will to crush him. Let that resonate for just a moment. I struggle to get through this without crying every time I read it. Isaiah 53, go home and read Isaiah 53 tonight. If you want to know who our Jesus is, go home and read this whole chapter. and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin. One version of the Bible said it pleased the Lord to crush him, not because God delighted in his son's pain, but because he delighted in the salvation that would come from his suffering. In Gethsemane, Jesus was so overwhelmed that his sweat began to turn to blood. He knows anguish. He knows grief. He knows what it feels like to be crushed. And he faced every bit of it alone so that you and I would never have to. What a God. What a God that would love me and you so much that he would send his only begotten son to be taken by a world that would reject him, to be broken and beaten and bruised for our peace, for our sin. He was broken open, daka, the Hebrew word there, it literally means beat to pieces, to crush, to be broken and bruised. It pleased the Lord to break his only begotten son because he knew what would …

… Jesus is the prince of peace and sacrifice for sinners in Isaiah He was pierced for our transgressions He was bruised for our iniquities And by his stripes we are healed Jesus is the everlasting ruler from Micah Promised to come from Bethlehem To be the shepherds our souls need And Jesus is the covenant keeper from Jeremiah Jesus is the one who makes the hope of the new covenant a reality for you and me, which means, so please don't miss this. This may be most important of all. We cannot claim Jeremiah 29, 11 through 13, as promises for our lives in this gathering today if we are not trusting in Jesus. These are not just general promises to God for anyone. Think about it. For people right now all around the world, and even in this gathering, who are rejecting God, who have not trusted in Jesus to save them from their sins, their, your future at this moment is not filled with hope. They, you, this is you, are not guaranteed that sin and suffering will end. …

… but the verse right above it says but he was pierced for our transgressions and he was crushed for our iniquities the punishment that brought us peace was on him and by his wounds we're healed. that's what it means to be saved and then as we'll see next week, the last verse in Ephesians 2 just shows us how to start walking it out, start using our new hand, start learning how even though we got big time scars, we can still walk, start realizing that, yeah, I got a limp, but I'm totally healed inside, and I'm saved and I'm alive, yeah, stuff happened to me in the past, but I've been saved. I got carried out of the water. I got life flighted to a whole new place. I got a brand new life. I got Christ in me and I am made righteous in him. So don't anybody try to tell me I got to carry guilt and shame around because I was guilty, but now I have been made righteous in Christ. Salvation doesn't just get me to heaven. Salvation got me alive and it made be righteous in Christ. My behavior is not 100% there, but my identity is. And I'm walking it out.

I Feel You
Jamal Bryant, 2025-03-23

… do my servants no harm do you want to know why god empathizes with us he empathizes with us because he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace is upon his shoulders. And by his stripes we are healed. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed. We are perplexed, but we are not in despair. The remix, why are you trying to figure it out? The Lord is already working it out. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they're mighty under God. For the pulling down a stronghold, I dare you to just pull it down. You just pull down every attack that's been assigned to your name, pull it down. Whatever's been trying to stop your raise, trying to stop your promotion, pull it down. Whatever's trying to stop your business, trying to stop your finances, pull it down. When you've been picked on, harassed, and bullied for so long, you begin to feel helpless. …
