He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth. He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn’t open his mouth. As a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he didn’t open his mouth. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

And somehow Jesus on his way to the cross is acting in calm confidence. In fact, the Bible tells us in Isaiah 53 7 that he's like a sheep being led to the slaughter that never even opens his mouth. He doesn't say a word. I mean, how does he do that? I know for me, like this is so opposite of what I would do. Like when I get frustrated, when I feel rejected, I throw my arms around, I start to defend myself, I try to self-validate. I'm going to let you know exactly what I think. That's not Jesus. How did he do that? Why? It's because he knew he didn't have to prove who he was to anyone. The thing is, when you, when God validates you, nobody here on this earth has to validate you. That means that you don't have to prove to anyone that you're innocent. You don't have to prove to your ex-wife that you're a great father to your kids. You don't have to prove to your boss that you're a hard worker. …
… And listen to the details of this 700 years before it actually happened. Isaiah 53, verses 7 to 12. He was beaten down and punished. Talking about Jesus on the cross, before the cross. But he didn't say a word. That all happened. he was led out like a lamb to be slaughtered he was condemned to death without fair judgment and then he was put to death for the transgressions of everyone else that's us he died like a criminal but then was buried with the rich even though he'd done nothing wrong and had never lied you know this is true Jesus died on the cross as a criminal you know that was the worst capital punishment available. It's humiliating, death on the cross. But when they took him down, there was a wealthy man named Joseph of Arimathea who had a brand new tomb he'd bought for his family. He often buried people in the same tomb for decades. There was like a hole in the wall of a cave, and then he covered it up. And Joseph of Arimathea was quite wealthy, but he offered his tomb for Jesus. He goes, you're not going to need it very long. …
… So Philip climbs up into the chariot, and it says, the place where he happened to be reading said he was led as a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep before its shearers is silent so he opened not his mouth. and it says beginning at that scripture Philip preached unto him Jesus Christ when it was all done and the man began to believe the Ethiopian eunuch began to believe in Jesus it seems there was a pool of water nearby and the Ethiopian eunuch pointed to and he said look there's some water. What hinders me from being baptized? And Philip immediately said, if you believe with all your heart, then you can be baptized. And I want to say to you tonight, if you believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, took your sins on the cross, rose again from the dead, then you can be baptized. It does not save anybody. It proclaims that you have been saved and you believe that. …
… But then watch this. Listen to Isaiah chapter 53, verse seven, which is a promise of Jesus coming to die on a cross. It says he, talking about Jesus, prophecy about Jesus, was oppressed, he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth. Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, And like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away. And as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the wicked and with the rich man in his death. Although he had done no violence, there was no deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him. He's put him to grief. when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring. He shall prolong his days. The will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. …
… as a ransom for many listen to this in Isaiah chapter 53 and verse 7 he was oppressed and he was afflicted yet he opened not his mouth like a lamb that is led to the slaughter and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent so he opened not his mouth. Listen to this in 1 Peter 1 17. And if you call on him as father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers. Now not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ like the Lamb of God without blemish or spot. Revelation chapter 5 beginning verse 6, and between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a lamb standing as though it had been slain with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. …
