… of everlasting. He's the father of forever, the father of time. I like this one, that he is the architect of the ages. And truly Isaiah 57 15 says that God is the one who inhabits eternity. Daniel 2 21 speaks of God as the one who changes the times and the seasons. He is the one who was, the one who is, and the one who is to come. He is the beginning and the end. And God is sovereign over time and everything that happens within it because he is not only the creator of it, just read Genesis 1.1, in the beginning, the creation of time itself, but according to the scriptures, he is the sustainer of time. And we will find today in our study that it is God who will make everything beautiful in its time. And this hope, this promise of scripture, you and I as followers of Jesus, we can cling on to it and trust in his goodness. Because from the cradle to the grave and everything in between, God is what we would call sovereign over time. We won't always know or understand the whys of life, but we can conclude this from the scriptures very clearly, that God is accomplishing his divine purposes on his divine timetable, all to the praise of his glory. Can I get an amen? Now, without this understanding, if we don't get this, then the years that we have on this earth will be dreadful and they will be draining. But with it, you and I will be able to see the limited time we have here in light of …
… looking at this verse this morning too Isaiah 57 verse 15 it says this for thus says the one who is high and lifted up who inhabits eternity whose name is holy I dwell in the high and holy place and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. See what he says? He goes, thus says the one, he's not talking about you, he says there's one who is high and lifted up. Okay, here's what he says. And he says, he's the one who inhabits eternity. Think about that phrase. He inhabits eternity. try to understand that see right now I am barely alive right I'm one breath away and meanwhile I'm right here 2018 9, 12 p.m. wherever we are and and I am barely existing right now and somehow the Bible says there is one who is high and lifted up and actually inhabits eternity Who do we think we are? …
… Isaiah 57, 15, you know, that says the one who is high and, you know, who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy, I dwell in a high and lofty place and also with him who is of a low and contrite spirit. Understand, when I talk about humility, I'm not saying I want you to be humble so that you'll be a humble person. I don't want humility just so I can say I'm humble I want humility so that God will dwell with me I want humility because I want God I want to know that he's there and that he hears me and I want to have that reverence that Jesus had and I want his presence so badly that lately my prayer has not just been Lord let me humble myself but I'm going God whatever it takes okay humble me if it took jesus suffering to learn obedience i'm pretty sure the only way that i could sing a song like come what may i will obey is if he brings suffering into my life and we live in such a distorted church that feels like suffering is a bad thing. …
… until I figure it out? And in Isaiah 57, verse 15, it says, For thus says the one who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy, I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit. but just meditating on that when you read the scriptures you see these people do these amazing things and unbelievable things you know like like joseph and it says you know whatever he did succeeded why because God was with him God is with him that that's all that matters like if God is with me right now that that's got to be central like I can just get up here and and and this is what I've done so many times where I get up and I and I say the right things but I do it in the flesh and we've all done it and there's so many warnings in scripture about God opposing the proud by giving grace to the humble and but what i love about that that verse in isaiah he says this is the one who is high and lifted up he's the one who says this the one who listen to this race who inhabits eternity The one who inhabits eternity, what does that even mean? …
… since we read Isaiah it was Isaiah 57 verse 15 it says this for thus says the one who is high and lifted up who inhabits eternity whose name is holy. I dwell in the high and holy place and also with him who is of contrite and lowly spirit to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. Let me read that verse again. Listen to the words of this. For thus says the one who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy. I dwell in the high and holy place and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. So God's saying right now he dwells in a high and holy place. Okay, it's not like us. We understand our own little world. God says you've got to understand I dwell in an existence so different from you. I dwell in this high and lofty place. …
