Has not My hand made all these things? And so they came into being,” declares the LORD. “This is the one I will esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, who trembles at My word. For my hand has made all these things, and so all these things came to be,” says Yahweh: “but I will look to this man, even to he who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word. For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. For all these things hath my hand made, and so all these things came to be, saith Jehovah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.

Hear His Voice in the Thunder
David Mathis, 2026-05-02

… pleased to help us tremble at his word, that we'd be newly amazed at the access that we have to his thunderous voice. In Isaiah chapter 66 verse 2, God says, Thus saith the Lord, this is the one to whom I will look, he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. That's not just enemies trembling. That's his friends, those who are safe with him, who marvel, who are in awe, who tremble with a joy at his voice. and that's what I want to pray that God would be pleased to do. I want to tremble with fear and great joy at the voice of God, and I want you to join me. And perhaps as we read Psalm 29, you heard that the voice of the Lord refrain. That comes over and over again, seven times, that dominates the heart of Psalm 29. And the picture in verses three to nine is just a tiny glimpse of God's power and his glory. It's a great storm that's rising over the Mediterranean Sea, and it comes east over the land of Israel. It begins in the north. That's the mention of Lebanon. …

Are You Ready for Unity?
Francis Chan, 2017-10-29

… thoughts are than my thoughts. So I'm not up here to give you opinion. As a church, we tremble at the word of God. In Isaiah 66 verse 2, this is the one to whom I'll look. He was humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. This is how we can be different people. As people are out there expressing their opinions and fighting and quarreling over opinions. Here's what I think is most important. Here's what I think is what he says. Hey, as a church, you don't do that because you're not wise in your own eyes. We don't act like mere humans and we don't lift our thoughts up real high. We tell people, I actually don't think that anything real profound has come out of this mind. But what I do believe his thoughts are so much higher than his. Man, that's that's great. That's your opinion. I've got my opinions. But honestly, I don't value your opinion that much. I don't value my opinion that much, but I tremble at his words. …

… and Isaiah 66 2 this is the one to whom I will look he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word There it is again. This is the one to whom I will look, he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. And I just want to confess to you guys, I... I've been way too quick to speak. and often read the word of God to put together a message or to tell someone else what I learned, and I don't tremble that much at his word. I don't just read the scriptures and sit there and go, wow, he literally said that. We live in a time where everyone is pretty quick to speak and teach. And I'm meeting very few people who tremble at His word. They just want to teach it better than the last guy. And I've certainly fallen into that trap. I just want to get out of it. Can we just pray? Father, would you just help us? …

Pride: The Sin Most Hated by God
Francis Chan, 2017-05-28

… you're supposed to test and go okay is that biblical you're not going to tell me something that is against scripture and i thought of isaiah chapter 66 verse 2 where he says this is the one to whom i will look he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word God says this is the one that I'm going to look for he's the person who is humble contrite in spirit and trembles at my word And so whether I heard from the Lord or not, it doesn't matter. It's in Scripture, so it's from the Lord, that I think sometimes we can be so quick to speak. I've been spending the last few weeks just repenting before God going oh God I just get so arrogant And sometimes when I speak... I don't fear you enough. I don't fear saying things that are wrong about you. and I can be quick to speak. When God says to guard your steps when you go near to the house of God, you know, come near to listen rather than to speak and to offer the sacrifice of fools who don't even know that they're doing wrong with all of their words. …
