Trust What You See - Sarah Jakes Roberts
Sarah Jakes Roberts, 2026-08-30

… in his identity that his strategy has already been qualified by his ability to abide if you abide in me give me John 15 John 15 7 says if you abide in me and my words abide in you you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you the doing is connected to the abiding he knows exactly what to ask because he spent enough time abiding and the Lord answers everything that he asked him to do not because God is his genie doing whatever he wants but because Elisha has spent enough time in the secret place that he is proven to God that I don't just abide in you when I need something I abide in you as my way of being and because I abide in you as my way of being when something happens in my life I have strategy and you trust my strategy Because abiding with you qualifies what's in your heart. When I abide in Jesus, it qualifies what I ask for. …

… you just review it and you go back over it. Jesus continued about this in John 15, verse seven. He says this, If you stay connected to me and my words remain in you, you may ask, you may request, ask any request you like, that's in prayer, and it will be granted. Circle that. It will be granted. That's a promise. My true disciples produce much fruit. This brings glory to my Father. So stay connected. Stay connected to my love. He says you stay connected to my love when you obey me. I've told you this so that you will be filled with my joy yes your cup of joy will overflow there's that word the overflowing life rather than overwhelmed life comes from being connected to God that means you got to spend time with him now circle the phrase my words remain in you it says if you stay connected to me you spend some time with me every day and my word stays connected to you how do you do that there's a word for that in the bible it's called the word meditation. Now, when I say the word meditation, I'm not talking about what most of you are thinking of. You're thinking about sitting in a lotus position with your hands out like this, and you're going um, and contemplating the lint in your navel, or whatever. No, no, no, no. That's Eastern meditation. Okay, that's New Age meditation. Meditation simply means seriously thinking about God's Word, what God has said. You get a verse, you read it, and you think about it …

The Way Of Wisdom Will Save Your Life
Jack Hibbs, 2026-05-31

… to be people of faith. John chapter 15, verse 7. Here's a whopper. This is awesome. This is incredible. Jesus said, if you abide in me, if you, listen, if you take up residence in me, if you live in me, and my words live in you, that's what the word abide means, you will ask what you desire. Did you hear that? That's not a trick question, by the way. If you abide in Jesus and his word abides in you, you can ask God for anything you want. You want to know why? Because what you want is from the heart of the Lord and it's pleasing to him. You mean if I abide in God and he abides in me, I can win the lottery? No. That's the exact opposite of what I'm saying. If God's word is in you and you're in him, you're going to want the things that God wants. And he says, and it shall be done for you. By this, my father is glorified that you bear much fruit. Notice your desires and what you pray for and ask God for turns out to be very fruity, very fruitful. So you will be my disciples. That is a great verse that sums up the dynamic of the Christian life. Write this down. It's not in your notes. It just popped into my head. Psalm 37 verse 4, delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Notice the prerequisite, delight yourself in God. Your heart will be …

The Way Of Wisdom
Jack Hibbs, 2026-04-12

… I'm going to ask you to stand, and we're going to do this every week. the Bible tells us in John 15, verses 7 and 8, if you abide in me, Jesus said, and my words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. For by this my Father is glorified that you bear much fruit, so you will be my disciples. Okay? We are going to see this verse every week at the end of the service. Until this book, the Proverbs, become our flesh and bone. And this is what we're going to do. Let's pray together. Heavenly Father, I pray this blessing over these, your people. Lord God, in Jesus' name, I pray that you would help us to see the difference between ignorant punishment versus loving discipline in our own lives as believers. I pray for them, Father God, that they would know that it is your will that they be wise and full of wisdom and knowledge. …

… if I can go back to the verse I quote maybe more than any other John 15 7 abide in me so what's the point living conscious of the presence of God and carrying a word puts eternity in my heart. it does something. It does something to satisfy my soul in a way that another car or another nice meal or whatever won't satisfy. There's something so intensely satisfying by living in the manifest presence of the Spirit of God that nothing else can equal. And from my experience, which is limited from my experience it's that cultivation of presence that helps me to live with the awareness that there's more. There's more. There's more than this. I'm thankful, but I'm also hungry. There's something about the hunger for more that brings the more. He's a covenant, O God, who says, you pray, and I respond. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. There's something about the hunger and the pursuit that affects dramatically how things happen in this life. …

Hearers and Doers (James 1:19-25)
John MacArthur, 2023-08-20

In the 15th chapter and verse 7 of the Gospel of John, If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. For my Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. The distinguishing mark, again, of a believer, the most notable evidence is love for Scripture and submission to that Scripture. So the true Christian lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Back to Psalm 119 and verse 111, I have inherited your testimonies forever, for they are the joy of my heart. It's not a reluctance. It's not fear that causes us to obey His Word. It's love. It's joy. It's blessedness. It's freedom. Jesus said also you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free so we are the people of the book and if you're a part of grace church you understand that you know that we've been talking about that the last few weeks all that God wants to say to his church he has put inside the pages of the Bible. …

… for apart from me you can do nothing. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish will be done for you. By this my fathers glorify that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. and are you abiding in his love today are you just going it is so good i'm just like that infant inside this womb living inside of god and this is my lifeline i'm attached to this vine that picture of that baby man you know just that soul resting in him just going i don't have to worry let me just abide what does an infant do blows bubbles and you know like what you're just in there you're just and i just feel like so many times we can get anxious if i do this better than and that's me that's where we'll go it's the stress and he's just saying abide abide and by rejoice rejoice rejoice don't rejoice if you cast out a demon rejoice that your name is written in the book of life rejoice that your name is written in heaven? Like, are you thrilled about it? You know, this other passage that I've been thinking about is Ephesians 5 hit me a little while back. You know, Ephesians 5, that's the marriage passage that you use, but it's so not about marriage. When it says husbands, love your wives as …

Becoming Lovers
Francis Chan, 2017-09-24

… I mean, does this sound like do's and don'ts? In John 15, verse 7, If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you'll abide in my love, just as I've kept my father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I've spoken to you that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends. If you do what I command you, no longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing. …

… FELLOWSHIP FACTOR. REMEMBER THERE IN JOHN THE FIFTEENTH CHAPTER, JESUS SAID, IF YOU ABIDE IN ME AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, THEN YE SHALL ASK WHAT YE WILL AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU, JOHN 15, 7. IF YOU ABIDE IN ME, WHAT DOES OUR LORD WANT US TO DO? DOES GOD JUST SIMPLY WANT TO GIVE US THINGS OR DOES GOD want us to have fellowship with him. God wants us to have fellowship with him. And so therefore God says, you're going to pray. And prayer is the way of you abiding in me and my abiding in you. And that way you and God do it together. God could do it without you. You can't do it without him, but he will not do it without you because God wants you to have that fellowship with him. You remember a while back I told you ABOUT SOMEBODY COMING TO PICK ME UP IN A PRIVATE AIRPLANE TO GO SOMEPLACE. AND WE'RE SITTING UP THERE SIDE BY SIDE IN THE COCKPIT. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FLYING AN AIRPLANE. BUT HE SAID, DO YOU WANT TO FLY THIS THING? I SAID, IF I CAN, IF YOU'D TELL ME WHAT TO DO. SO HE SAID, DO THUS AND SUCH AND SO. …
