I AM A MOTHER

… It says, Jesus answered, everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water, welling up to eternal life. The interesting thing about a spring is it's continuous. It doesn't stop. And Jesus is saying, I'm going to give you an everlasting water that you did not even know you needed. So often we're focused on those practical needs and we forget our deepest need. In order to lead our children, we cannot lead them where we have not been. And so it's all about that supernatural need being met. After this exchange, she goes back to her town, the little village close by. And rather than ducking in the shadows, she tells people about this man that she had met and about what had happened in her life and that he knew everything there was to know about her, and she tells people boldly her testimony. …

Episode 123148: 3/8/26 Autobiography: The Middle

… our father Jacob, who gave us this cistern and drank from it himself with his children and his flocks. Jesus answered and said to her, Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst. The water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water so that I may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water. Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband and come back. The woman answered and said to him, I do not have a husband. Jesus answered her, You are right in saying I do not have a husband, for you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is not your husband. What you have said is true. The woman said to him, Sir, I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but your people say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem. …

… Jacob? Yes. Who gave us the well and drank from it himself as did his sons in his livestock. And he said to her, everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water that I give them, see, he's coming on out with it, will never thirst. In other words, he's saying there's two kinds of thirst in people. There's a physical thirst and there's an inside thirst. There's an outside thirst, but there's something deeper in every person that also thirsts. But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. And the woman said to him, sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water. She only knew about one thirst and wasn't really in touch with the other thirst in her life. And she was getting the message mixed up and thinking, oh, so you're saying you can give me something and I don't have to bring my jug out here at noon again? …

… got a plan for my life. Clap a little bit louder if you believe there's purpose and there's destiny to your future. John 4 verse 13, whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst again, but water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. See, when you start walking in the Jesus life, the love of God starts overflowing. The love of God starts spilling out over your life. See, the enemy wants you to barely keep enough water for yourself, but when you drink from the water that Jesus has, it'll spill out and you'll invite all your co-workers, all your neighbors, all your family, all your cousins and all your friends and say, I know a man that changed my life. Come on, the spirit and the bride say, come, come. And you'll never get to the fun part of inviting others into the kingdom until you've got the rivers of living water flowing out of your life. And I'm just, I'm praying for you. I'm praying that you step out of living for yourself and you step into living for God. …

… And so we're told that He came to this city called Sychar, near that piece of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. When Jacob gave his patriarchal blessing to all of the sons, it is mentioned at the end of the book of Genesis that this parcel of real estate was given to Joseph. And this was a very important piece of land because it contained this ancient site, this well that had been dug by Jacob so many years before. Now keep in mind that when Jesus meets this woman now by Jacob's well, almost 2,000 years have transpired from the time that that well was dug by Jacob, and now this woman is there at that same well still drinking from it 2,000 years later. If that's not exciting, if you've ever been over there to Israel, maybe you've gone to that same site as I have that is right at the base of Mount Gerizim, and that same well is still there today, and the water still flows freely in it. So that well has been meeting the needs of people for 4,000 years. And so after the first 2,000 of those 4,000 years, it was considered something of a sacred site by people who trace their roots back to the Old Testament patriarchs. …
