… The night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When he had said these things, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva. And he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And he said to him, go, wash in the pool of Siloam, which is translated scent. So he went and washed and came back seeing. Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, Is not this he who sat and begged? Some said, This is he. Others said, He is like him. He said, I am he. Therefore they said to him, How were your eyes open? He answered and said, A man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, Go to the pool of Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and I received my sight. Then they said to him, Where is he? …

What If It's Messy_ Release (Part 3)
Michael Todd, 2026-09-20

… bondage and God was about to make him free. But I want us to see what happens for us to be made free and what we need to do. I want you to go to John chapter nine, verse one through seven. I'm going to read the whole thing. And then I'm going to preach this word from my heart because I believe it's going to set some people free in this building. The title of this is Jesus heals a man born blind. He says, as Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. Rabbi, his disciples asked him, why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents' sins? It's got to be one of them. Jesus said it was not because of the sins of his parents or his sins. This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. We must quickly carry out the task assigned to us by the one who sent us. The night is coming and then no one, no one can work. He said, but while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world. Then he spit on the ground, made mud with saliva and spread the mud over the blind man's eyes. He told him, go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam. Siloam means sin. So the man went and washed and came back seeing. …

The God of My Valleys - Part 3
Rick Warren, 2026-07-28

… Every time you get afraid, you need to look at the light. Jesus said, I am the light of the world. He who believes in me shall not walk in darkness. He who believes in me will not stumble in darkness. I am the light of the world. The first thing God said when he created the universe, let there be light. The Bible says God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. when you are scared by the shadows in your life, you just need to turn around and look at the light. Stop focusing on the stuff that's scaring you to death, those bills, those fears, those worries, that stuff that goes around in your mind, and just get your focus off your fear and get your focus on the Father. You look at the light, and the shadow can't hurt you. In fact, you don't even see it. And when you're going through a tunnel, how do you make it through a tunnel? You keep your eyes on the light at the end. …

Blind Men’s Bluff │ Msg 6/14
Chuck Swindoll, 2026-07-07 · Scripture reading

… And he says back, no, not completely, not completely. And then at that very moment, he introduces them to the light of the world. In fact, he favors the place called his office where he has people with bandages coming in for that first exposure to light. And he has them read an eye chart. It doesn't read, Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country and other dumb statements. You know what it reads? For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. So here this person blinding, you know, the bandage comes off. down snaps the little scale, and he says, now read that for me. For God so loved the world, I am the light of the world. If any man comes to me, he will no longer be in blindness, but will have the light of life. And he says, words cannot describe the joy that comes over me when I introduce them not to physical sight only, but spiritual. …

Episode 123149: 3/15/26 Autobiography: Who Will You Be?
Mike Schmitz, 2026-03-14 · Scripture reading

So our 23rd president, 23rd president of the United States is a man named Warren G. Harding. He was president, sorry, 29th president of the United States. It was Warren G. Harding, president from 1921 to 1923. And apparently Warren G. Harding was a decent human being. but at the same time in the years since he's since he was president he has been consistently on the list of worst presidents that we've ever had and and apparently Warren G. Harding even thought this about himself there's a quote that he he said about himself he said I am not fit for this office and never should have been here so how did Warren G. Harding get elected if he wasn't fit for the office. He wasn't competent for the office. And even he said, I'm not competent for the office. How did he get elected? So Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book about the, well, he wrote a book a number of years ago called Blink. And in it, he tells the story. And this is his perspective. …

… we always remember, Jesus said, I am the light of the world. And then we take that Christ light and we pass it to someone else. I take it and I pass it to someone else. And I remind you that Jesus said, now you are the light of the world. So he turned to his disciples. He said, I'm the light of the world. Now you are the light of the world. You're to take the light I have, and you're going to take it out of the world to bring darkness, you know, to push back the darkness, to be the light for the world. This is what we're called to do. This is what it means to be a follower of Christ. And this is God's great strategy in sending Jesus. You are his strategic plan to push back the darkness in the world. You're his strategic plan to bring light and love into the world. I'm reminded of what Jesus said. At the last supper, he said, I give you a new commandment. …

Paper Walls, Part 3 - "Free to See"
Andy Stanley, 2025-09-19

… This is so over the top. I am the light of the world. Who would say that? I mean, who says things like this? I am the light of the world. No wonder people just kind of smirked and shook their head and walk off. You're the light of the world, right? But before you write him off, what if that's true? What if Jesus, think about it. What if Jesus really came to lead the people of this world and every generation, including you, including me? What if Jesus really came to lead us out of darkness into light? What if he really came to light up your excuses and expose them for what they truly are so that you can become everything God has called you to be, everything he knows you can be so you can reach your full potential, so you can get to the other side of this instead of living shut down and bogged down in the things that you've told yourself? what if it's true? …

… the world. Now, he's not at Rome. He's not at Greece. Now, he's in, he's in Galilee. And he looks to these people and he says, hey, you are the light of the world. Now, you think about it. You are the light. You know what their first reaction would be? Who, us? Us. We are the light of the world. Us. Now, the word ye is emphatic in the Greek. It means you and nobody else. You are the light of the world. Now, when Jesus said this, Plato and Socrates and Aristotle had already taught. And the intelligentsia of the world was in, uh, uh, in Greece or Rome or somewhere. But Jesus looks at these and he says, ye are the light of the world. Of course, the reason they were the light of the world is because of Jesus who was himself THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. WHAT HE IS SAYING IS, WHEN YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES, THE LIGHT THAT I AM WILL BE IN YOU AND THEREFORE YOU WILL BE MY LIGHT. NOW, THE REASON HE SAID THAT, VERY FRANKLY, WAS THAT THE WORLD OF HIS DAY, LIKE THE WORLD OF OUR DAY, UH, WAS IN GROSS DARKNESS, GROSS DARKNESS. AND MAN'S LIGHT HAS FAILED AND ALWAYS DOES FAIL. NOW, THERE WAS A GREAT AWAKENING, AND IT WAS CALLED THE ENLIGHTENMENT. AND WE, UH, FREQUENTLY HEAR THE HIGH MUCKETY MUKS TALK ABOUT OUR WORLD TODAY AS BEING ENLIGHTENED. BUT, UH, FOLKS, MAN'S LIGHT HAS UTTERLY FAILED. JUST KEEP YOUR BIBLES OPEN THERE TO MATTHEW …

As we continue now with our study of the I Ams of Jesus as they're found in John's Gospel, we're going to turn our attention now to the second of the series of I Ams, which is the statement that Jesus made, I am the light of the world. Now, depending on which translation of the Bible you have in front of you, you may find this reference in a little different place from somebody else. In my Bible, I find it in John chapter 8 verse 12, where we read, Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world, and he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." Now, the reason I mentioned in passing that it may be at a different spot in your Bible is that what precedes this in my text is the account of the woman caught in adultery. And in fact, as a subheading in the New King James Bible, it says this for chapter 8, an An adulteress faces the light of the world. …
