… and then he begins to walk the people down the path that there was a man going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and he fell among robbers who stripped him and beat him and departed leaving him half dead. There he was on the side of the road. I remember on the Jericho road when we visited there on two occasions. The road is very narrow and there's only room for really two people. But there's a lot of places, rocks and hills where you can hide. And the story is told here that as this man was walking down to Jericho from Jerusalem, he was attacked by thieves and robbers and he was left half dead. and so we're told that as he was laying there that a priest was going down that road and when he saw him he passed on the other side now that's a very small road and here was a priest a man who represented the God of the covenant he passed by him. …

This Is Going to Be Good
Levi Lusko, 2026-10-04

… And who is my neighbor? Then Jesus answered and said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him, I would underline this part, half dead. He was half dead. Not all the way dead. He was half dead. Now, by chance, as it happened, a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise, a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked and passed by also on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. And he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, take care of him. …

I'd like to invite you to take out of your bulletin, your GPS, your Grow, Pray, and Study Guide. If you're watching at home, I'd like to encourage you to have a pen and paper handy. You'll find there's a place to take notes here, and then on the backside, you'll find our daily scripture readings that all tie back into today's message. I'd like to encourage you to be people who read your Bible every day and to find these scriptures that might encourage you to continue to think about what we're talking about today. So we continue in our series on the issues that divide us. One of those divisive issues in our country today is how we look at how we ensure that health care happens for the vulnerable in our midst. And really a whole host of other questions around health care and the role that government plays in that. And the Atlantic Monthly has said this last year that the question that will decide the 2016 election is how we will address health care needs of Americans beginning in 2017. That this will be at front and center of the debate, of the presidential debates this fall. You don't hear as much about it today, but when you get to having one Republican and one Democrat facing off for president, there are very different solutions about how we're going to solve some of these really important problems. …

Your Part to Play in the Kingdom Economy of God - Louie Giglio
Louie Giglio, 2026-08-10 · Scripture reading

… And so Jesus told this story. A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead. So he's only got half to go. We don't know how long he's got. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So to a Levite, so now we've got a priest and a Levite, these religious leaders. When he came to the place and saw him, he passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, a guy who's not even really welcome in this particular part of the world, as he traveled, he came where the man was, and when he saw him, he took pity on him. Let's remember that word today. And he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. And then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day, so he spends the night there. The next day, he takes out two denarii, two days' wages, and he gives them to the end caper. And he says, look after him. And when I return, I'll reimburse you, another key word to remember, for any extra expense you may have. In other words, I think I've got it set up, but I don't know how long the guy's going to need to recover. I don't know how long he's going to …

Extreme Neighborliness
Guest speaker, 2026-08-09 · Scripture reading

And Jesus said, which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers? The expert in the law replied, the one who had mercy on him. And Jesus told him, go and do likewise. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. Hallelujah. Won't you be my neighbor? You know, since Sunday school days, I've heard the parable in our reading from Luke chapter 10. It's one that I really like, especially Jesus' punchline at the end. It's the parable of the good Samaritan. Do you like it too? Well, let's listen to how it starts. On one occasion, an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. Teacher, he asked, what must I do to inherit eternal life? What is written in the law, Jesus replied. How do you read it? He answered, love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself. …

This Is Going To Be Good
Levi Lusko, 2025-12-08 · Scripture reading

But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, and who is my neighbor exactly? Then Jesus answered and said, a certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him what? Half dead. Now by chance, a certain priest came down that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise, a Levite, which I hate that they got to go ahead and tarnish my name like that. A Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. And he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. … Jesus replied, A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him for half dead. Now, by chance, a priest was going down that road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So likewise, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, while traveling down the road, came near him, and when he saw the man, he was moved with pity. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them. then he put the man on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper and said, take care of him and when I come back I will repay you whatever more you spend. which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers? …
