… sowers all. The second component is the seed. That's also in verse 14 and throughout the entire story. The sower sows, and here's the seed, the Word. The Word. The seed is the Word of God. The seed is the biblical message of salvation. The seed is the gospel. I told you before that there are three places that the parables show up in the New Testament Matthew, Mark, and Luke. In Luke's account, Luke chapter 8 of this, he has Jesus saying this, the seed is the word of God. Now here's a question. Why on earth would Jesus compare the word of God to a seed because both have life within them. Both have the power of life within them. The seed is the word of God. Now, Peter picks up on this. Remember, Peter was there when Jesus said all this. So years later, he would write 1 Peter 1. Listen to how close this sounds. having been born again not of corruptible seed but incorruptible through the word of God which lives and abides forever. …
… What does that mean? Jesus gives the meaning of the parable of the sower in Luke chapter nine, verse 11, where he says, this is the meaning of the parable. Excuse me, Luke chapter eight, verse 11. This is the meaning of the parable. The seed is God's word. The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, but only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved. The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy, but since they don't have deep roots, they believe for a while, but they fall away when they face temptation. The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and they never grow into maturity. And the seeds that fell in the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God's word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest. …
… kingdom of god have been given to you but to others i speak in stories so that though they seen they may not see though hearing they may not understand verse 11 this is the meaning of the story i just told you the seed is the word of god those along the path are the ones who hear the word and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts so that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a little while, but in the time of testing, they fall away. The seed that fell among the thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on through their life, it is choked by life's worries, riches, and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and a good heart who hear the word, retain the word, and by persevering, produce a crop. Write down point number three today. I love this. Jesus reveals what people truly love, truly trust, and truly fear. He's revealing. So watch this. Sometimes Jesus reveals his authority. Other times Jesus reveals our condition. In this instance, he's showing us what's inside of us. He tells the story about the word and he says, the word is like a seed and it goes forward and it's sown. And the first thing that happens when the word is sown …
… Anybody who spreads the Word. The seed is the Word of God. Luke 8, 11. The seed is the Word of God in the parallel passage in Luke. It is the gospel revelation. You go into the book of Acts starting in chapter 4 all the way through chapter 13, and repeatedly it says, and the Word spread, and the Word of God spread, and the Word of God spread, and the Word of God went forth, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. That's the development of the church. That's the building of the kingdom in the book of Acts. It's the Word of God going forth. To those who are perishing, the Word of God is foolishness, but to those who are being saved, it is the power of God unto salvation, 1 Corinthians 1 says. So the sower, is anyone who sows. And please note, there are no adjectives to describe an effective sower, it's just a sower. There's no distinguishing between the sowers, because the success of the seed does not depend upon the strategy of the sower. It depends upon the nature of the seed, first of all. …
