… you do not know what kind of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And not only could they be harsh, but they could also be very ambitious and insensitive. One of my favorite stories in the Bible, I think it's so funny, so many of the stories in the Bible where you see the disciples interacting with Jesus, they're like office episodes. Like it's less the chosen, it's more the office. Like these guys said some wild things and you see their interactions and it's really funny. On one occasion, Jesus pours his heart out to the disciples and he says, hey, in a short time, I'm gonna be crucified, I'm gonna die. I'm gonna be whipped. I'm gonna be tortured. All these terrible things are gonna happen. I'm gonna suffer. And instead of the disciples saying, oh man, Jesus, that's so rough. … He did not come to condemn, but to save. In Luke 9, verse 56, it says, the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. So who isn't condemned? John 3, 18. He who believes in him is not condemned. Romans 8, 1. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Isn't that beautiful? There's no condemnation. since the day that I received Christ as my Lord and Savior, I haven't been condemned one single day. Have I blown it? Have I sinned? Yes, but God has never condemned me. He's convicted me by his Holy Spirit. He said, Shadrach, don't you dare go down that path. Or when I did something that he knew I shouldn't have done, he tells me immediately, go and make it right. If I offended somebody else, go and make it right and come back to me as quick as possible. First John 1, 9, He's faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse because that's our God. …

… the son of man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them he went to another village a pruned back an unhealthy branch that would only develop hostilities, separation from the very people they were sent to love and serve. Now, if I am formulating a discipleship program, let's say I'm starting a ministry school, the Bill Johnson Ministry School, and all I have is chapter nine, I'm not gonna use his plan because there's too many problems. I mean, let's be honest. They send them out. They come back thinking they're greater than each other. They're successful in ministry. they come back thinking their stream is the river. They come back thinking we have permission to kill people. I just went to Korea two weeks ago. If I came back from Korea and one of my staff met me at the airport and said, Bill, Bill, come here. We tried to do an outreach in Red Bluff. And the city father said, you guys can't come here. …

… But he turned and rebuked them and said, You know not what manner of spirit ye are of. FOR THE SON OF MAN CAME NOT TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE THEM, AND THEY WENT TO ANOTHER VILLAGE. HA, HA. JAMES AND JOHN SAW THE SAMARITANS, AND BOY, WERE THEY FILLED WITH ZEAL. THEY DIDN'T LIKE THE WAY THE SAMARITANS WERE DOING, AND THEY SAID, LORD, LET'S NUKE THEM. HOW ABOUT A LITTLE HEAVENLY NAPALM, LORD? LORD, THESE PEOPLE ARE AGAINST YOU. THEY NEED TO FRI. JESUS SAID, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT SPIRIT YOU'RE OF. I DIDN'T COME TO KILL. I CAME TO HEAL. I CAME TO RESTORE. I CAME TO MAKE WHOLE. JESUS WAS THERE IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMONE, PRAYING. AND, UH, JUDAS LED THE HIGH PRIEST AND THE, UH, AND THE, UH, THE AUTHORITIES INTO THE GARDEN TO ARREST JESUS. LET ME GIVE YOU A PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE HERE. PUT THIS ONE IN YOUR MARGIN.
