Tell Me a Story!
Guest speaker, 2026-08-30

… As I read this story to you, listen how lavish, or you might think how careless, the farmer is with a precious seed. Listen, a farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow, but when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew, and produced a crop, multiplying 30, 60, or even 100 times. Then Jesus said, he who has ears to hear, let him hear. Sounds careless, doesn't it? Sowing seed on the road and on an outcrop of rocks? My friend Louie is a farmer. He tells me that when a farmer is ready to plant, he programs into the computer exactly where he wants the seeds planted. …

Why Jesus Told Parables
Michael Zeigler, 2026-08-02 · Scripture reading

… And in his teaching, he was saying, listen, look. the farmer went out to sow his seed. And it happened, as he was sowing, some of the seed fell along the path. And the birds came and gobbled it up. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much earth. And straightway it sprang up, because the earth was shallow. And when the sun came up, it was scorched. And since it had no root, it withered. Other seed fell into the weeds, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it produced no grain. And other seeds fell into the good earth, the rich earth, and they proceeded to produce grain, growing and increasing and bearing, in one case, 30 times more, in another case, 60, and in another case, 100 times more than what was sown. And he continued to say, Whoever has ears to hear, listen. And when he was alone, those who were around him, along with the twelve, the twelve disciples, began to ask him about the parables. …

Worth the Wait
Michael Zeigler, 2026-07-26

… He told them many things in parables saying, Look, a farmer went out to sow his seed and as he sowed, some of the seed fell along the path and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose, they were scorched, and since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundred times more than what was sown some sixty, some thirty times more whoever has ears to hear listen now pause there a moment next Matthew tells us that Jesus' followers come and ask him why he teaches these parable stories his answer is cryptic but it has to do with the fact that Jesus knows that most of these folks are still skeptically squinting down at him. …

WHO IS THIS | Chad Veach
Chad Veach, 2026-05-17

… he told this parable. A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path and it was trampled on and birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground. And when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants, but still other seed fell on good soil. Everybody say good soil. Good soil. It fell on good soil and it came up and yielded a crop a hundred times more than what was sown. When he said this, he called out, whoever has ears to hear, let them hear. And his disciples asked him what, what, in the world could this parable have have meant and he said the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of god have been given to you but to others i speak in stories so that though they seen they may not see though hearing they may not understand verse 11 this is the meaning of the story i just told you the seed is the word of god those along the path are the ones who hear the word and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts so that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a little while, but in the time of testing, they fall away. …

Jesus The Jester #1 | "Hidden"
Scott Black Johnston, 2025-09-10 · Scripture reading

… And in his teaching, he said to them, listen. A sower went out to sow and as he sowed some seed fell on the path and and birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on rocky ground where it did not have much soil and it sprang up quickly since it had no depth of soil and when the sun rose it was scorched and since it had no root withered away. Other seed fell among thorns and the thorns grew up and choked it and it yielded no grain. Other seed fell into good soil and brought forth grain growing up and increasing and yielding 30 and 60 and a hundredfold. And he said, let anyone with ears to hear listen. When he was alone, those who were around him, along with the twelve, asked him about the parables. And he said to them, to you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God. But for those outside, everything comes in parables in order that they may indeed look, but not perceive, and may indeed listen but not understand, so that they may not turn again and be forgiven. …

The Sword of the Spirit
David Platt, 2025-09-03

But Jesus tells us a parable in Mark chapter 4, the story with a point. And starting in Mark chapter 4, verse 3, Jesus says, Listen, behold, so picture it. growing up and increasing and yielding 30-fold and 60-fold and 100-fold. And he said, he who has ears to hear, let him hear. So that's the story. And then a couple of verses later, he explains it. Listen to what he says. Jesus says, the sower sows the word. So that whole story is about God's word. And what happens? These are the ones along the path where the word is sown. when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them. Did you catch that? When God's word is spoken, Satan is acting. He's working to take away God's word immediately. Don't miss this. The devil is doing this right now. Like in this very moment. Satan is working to distract so many of you right now He's tempting you to look at your phone Instead of listening to what God is saying right now He's tempting you to think about a million other things in your life Besides what God is saying right now He does not want you to hear the word of God He is trying to keep you from hearing And believing God's word That's straight from the mouth of Jesus. …
