When God Seems Late
Skip Heitzig, 2026-09-13

… and he was by the sea. And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name, and when he saw him, he fell at his feet and begged him earnestly, saying, my little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her that she may be healed and she will live. So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed him and thronged him. If you were to read the gospel of Mark all the way through from chapter four into chapter five without a break, you would see the contrast. You have in one town a crowd of people who can't wait to see Jesus get out of town and then you have another crowd on the other side of the lake here who is so glad that he came back. So one group wants nothing to do with him. One group never wants him to leave. And I've discovered that's pretty much how the world is. you either hate Jesus or you love him. …

Jesus Walks Stride (Part 1)
Michael Todd, 2026-08-28

… this example. Mark chapter 5 verse 22. It says, then a leader of the local synagogue whose name was Jairus arrived. When he saw Jesus, he fell to his feet and he said, pleading fervently with him, my little daughter is dying. Please come right now. Come and lay your hands on her. I know if you lay your hands on her, she can be healed and she can live. I want you to see the level of of urgency jairus came with like his daughter was dying so so he didn't approach jesus with the hey jesus god bless you worthy is the lamb It was no time for formalities. My daughter's dying. Come quick. Let's go. And many times we allow people's problems, issues or their urgency to take us out of the pace of grace. To break our stride. And look what it says. It just says, and Jesus went with him. It didn't say he took off. He didn't say, everybody, let's go. There's an urgent message. …

You invite somebody over or take somebody out for a meal, show hospitality, and the church will match it. Seven times over. with a contribution to help people who are underserved. We're going to be talking about hospitality today. I like this quote, hospitality is the art of making guests feel at home even when you wish they were. it's not always easy but hospitality is always therapeutic and it's life changing it's certainly worth a conversation so let's ask the lord's blessing and then we'll get to work grant mercy lord upon these words forgive our speaker his sins are many and help us to see Christ, just Christ. And through Christ we pray and all the church said. Well, if a voice could be a season, hers was springtime April. Hello, she sang. Thank you for calling. And I needed a friendly voice. Outside the sky was pouring buckets of rain. Lightning was zigzagging through the air. the city of san antonio was being told to stay off the roads flooding was possible i had a flight to catch i had an appointment to keep however and i didn't know what to do so i called the airlines they could tell me right they would know if the flight was canceled or late They would be the calm within the storm. …

Fear Makes Noise, Faith Makes Room | Jentezen Franklin
Jentezen Franklin, 2025-10-19 · Scripture reading

… I'll begin reading with verse 22. And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jesus by name. And he saw him and he fell at his feet. And he begged him earnestly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her. She's at the point of death, Jesus. Come and lay your hands on her and she may be healed and she will live. And so Jesus agrees and he starts in that direction. The woman with the issue of blood touches him. There's a divine miracle that takes place. And then verse 24, in the meantime, I guess we would say, after that miracle, that little interruption, someone came and said in verse 35 while he was still speaking someone came from the ruler of the synagogue's house and said your daughter is dead why trouble you the master and as soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken he said to the ruler of the synagogue do not be afraid only believe I want you to let that, let's just say that. …

How To Find Faith
Tim Keller, 1998-11-08 · Scripture reading

… And then one of the synagogue rulers named Jairus came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet and pleaded earnestly with him. My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live. So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him, and a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better, she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak because, she thought, if I just touch his clothes, I'll be healed. Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, who touched my clothes? You see people crowding against you, his disciples answered, and yet you ask, who touched me? But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. And then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and trembled with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering. And while Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. Your daughter is dead, they said. …
