I'm going to take your attention now down to verse 9, where Christ asked the man, what is your name? And he answered, saying, my name is Legion, for we are many. Now, Legion is a military designation. A Roman Legion was comprised of over 6,000 foot soldiers. But it was a very well-organized company of men, a Legion, a Roman Legion. The fact that this demon's name is Legion and that there are many of them, the idea is not only are there a lot of them, but they're very well-organized. And demons are very well-organized. Paul speaks about principalities, powers, rulers of darkness. All of those are military designations that describe a highly organized group of beings. So then you get the picture. We have a whole host of very powerful, well-organized, demonic spirits controlling not just one man, but two and a whole region. bringing fear throughout. That's what the devil does. … You got too much power to save where you are. And so they said, they said, our name is Legion, for we are many. So I did some research on Legion. And for a Roman, they knew that legions were only the finest soldiers that they coalesced. Generally, in order to be a legion, you had to be 5,000 to 6,000 bad soldiers. So when the devil said, my name is legion, for we are many, he said there's about 6,000 jokers down in here. And the man had so many, touch your neighbor and say 6,000. The man has so many demons down inside of him that when Jesus finally did cast them out, they went into a herd of swine and the swine committed suicide. By the way, the reason you know he's a Gentile, they were raising swine. If they were Jews, they never would have been raising swine. And the Bible said that when Jesus cast out the demons, he cast them out into the swine. And the swine said I'd rather be dead than live with what you've been living with what you've been living with is so powerful it's enough to kill a herd of swine the very fact that you're still standing is a miracle no way in the world you could have the Legion of trouble you have on you and still be able to stand up clap your hand somebody stand up clap your hands and get on You got legions of trouble. …

… Then Jesus asked him, what is your name? My name is Legion, he replied, for we are many. Another translation, my name is Legion, because I got a whole lot of problems. My name is Legion, for we are many. But I draw your attention to verse 15. When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons sitting there, dressed, and in his right mind, they were afraid. When they saw him sitting, dressed, and in his right mind, they were afraid. What is your name? My name is Legion. For I've got so many problems, and I'm not okay. May the Lord add a blessing to the reading and hearing of God's holy word. I simply want to place a tag here on this text that we might engage this word today and continue in our series, I am not okay. We have looked at in this series a preacher who says, I am not okay, a leader who says, I am not okay, a daughter who says, I am not okay. …
