Jentezen Franklin, 2026-08-03 · Scripture reading

… he departed to the mountain to pray. Now, when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea and he was alone on the land and he saw them straining at rowing for the wind was against them. Now, about the fourth watch of the night, he came to them walking on the sea and would have passed them by. And when they saw him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost and cried out for they all saw him and were troubled. But immediately he talked with them and said to them, be of good cheer. It is I do not be afraid. Then he went up into the boat to them and the wind ceased and they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure and marveled. And I'm going to, I'm going to preach this morning from this text about the storms of life. Specifically, why do they come? Why does God allow storms to come? Because all of us go through storms. Sometimes he just walks close enough to scare you. honestly sometimes you have to persuade him to come you say well that's not that's not my loving father yeah it is that's him right there as he didn't intend to come in the boat why faith brings answers but enduring faith brings answers with character and there are some answers you and i can't be trusted with unless there's enduring faith that brings it about why because the character will sustain the answer for long periods of time. In other words, it won't come and then be discarded because of bad stewardship. …

… Put this one down in Mark chapter six. beginning in verse 47. And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea and he alone on the land. There in the sea, Jesus is on the shore. Now watch this. And he saw them toiling in rowing. He saw them. Did you know that he sees you right now? You say, he, he doesn't know where I am. He doesn't know this difficulty. Why is he so far away? Why am I in the storm and he on the shore? Friend, he is there praying for you. He went apart to a mountain to pray. He's up there on the mountain looking down. He sees right through the dark. They can't see him. He sees us. And what's he doing? He's praying. You want a blessed thought? Let me give you a blessed thought. You are on Jesus' prayer list. You are on Jesus' prayer list. There's nothing much more comforting to me than for somebody to tell me that they pray for me. …
