So He could not perform any miracles there, except to lay His hands on a few of the sick and heal them.He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

… too distrustful. Why? The Bible says love always trusts. It expresses faith. You know, to me, one of the most interesting verses in the Bible is this next verse on your outline, Mark chapter 6, verse 5 and 6, and it says this. Jesus has gone to this town and it said, Jesus could not do many mighty works there in this town. I'm talking about miracles, healings, things like that. Jesus could not do many mighty works there because of their lack of faith. Now notice this is really interesting. It's not Jesus' lack of faith that prevented the miracles. It's not Jesus' lack of faith that prevented the healings. It's not Jesus' lack of faith from preventing all these good blessings from happening. It was the lack of faith of the people who were there. It was their unbelief. It was their lack of trust. You see, if that's true of Jesus, it's really true of you. when people don't trust you you can't do as much when you don't feel the trust of other people you're not as empowered you're not as liberated you're not as blossoming and when you don't trust other people you limit them you hold them back if this is true of Jesus the son of God it's certainly true of you and it's certainly true of me that we are held back by the distrust of other people when people don't believe in us when people don't trust us, when people don't show confidence in us. …
… Jesus said to them, a prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relative and his own people. He could not do miracles there except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith. Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village. This is the word of God for you, the people of God. Thanks be to God. Take a moment, think about your hometown. Who is a hometown hero or local celebrity? Do you like them? Are you proud that they represent your city? I grew up in Long Beach, California, and I'm sure there are more celebrities from the LBC, but what comes to mind for me is the smooth reggae rock sounds of Sublime in the legendary hip-hop lyrics of Snoop Dogg and Warren G. Just hit the east side of the LBC on a mission trying to find Mr. Warner G. Thank you for indulging me. I think hometowns have an interesting relationship with hometown heroes. …
… And then similarly, it's the same word we saw in Mark chapter 6, verse 5, when the Bible says he could not do any of the miracles there except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them because he was amazed at their lack of faith. So notice the relationship here between faith and what God does or does not do. So our faith and what God does go together. So Paul is praying, so now back to Ephesians 3 20, Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than. This is a great phrase. It's kind of hard to translate in the English. It's why some translations say immeasurably more than or unimaginably more than or infinitely more than because Paul uses words that basically repeat and overlap. It's like he's not just saying not just very far more than but very, very far more than. Or not just super abundantly more than, but super, super abundantly more than. So the point is, there's no limit to what this God is able to do. …
