… and the wind died down. They were completely amazed. Four… This part is going to seem out of nowhere. They had not understood about the loaves. Their hearts were hardened. So, I want to ask you a question. What in the world does bread have to do with a boat? What does they had not understood about the loaves have to do with the fact that they were afraid in the storm? In order to put this in context, I want to show you one more picture and give you one more piece. When the Bible says immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, it does not say in that verse what has just occurred before Jesus sent them on this trip. But if you back up just a few verses, Jesus has just finished feeding 5,000 men and women and children who were starving. Instead of allowing them to starve or sending them away, he told the disciples, Bring me the bread you have. Bring me the fish you have. …
… In other words, get happy. Then he went up into the boat to them. The wind ceased. They greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure and marveled. Here's our key verse. Verse 52, for they had not understood about the loaves because the heart was still hard. Here's the point. They had a loaves and fishes experience in which God revealed the nature of his kingdom to them, and they didn't get it. Because they didn't get it, they couldn't draw from this renewed mind understanding of the kingdom to deal with the storm that they were facing on the boat. they didn't get it what did they miss what did they miss they're they're they're they're they've got a multitude before them jesus says you feed them they didn't get the fact that the food didn't multiply at jesus's hands it multiplied at theirs jesus didn't take the boy's lunch throw it in the air and go shazam and create a big pile of food that's not a smart thing to do with a hungry crowd instead he divided it into 12 they handed it out it multiplied as they handed it out so what did they miss they missed the fact that when jesus said you feed them he never changed his mind when he said you feed them and they had that dumb look on their face like huh there's no stores we have no money what did he do he instructed them how to do what he just commanded them to do. So what is the point? The renewed mind lives with an awareness that God …
"Immediately He constrained His disciples to get into the boat, and to go before Him to the other side to Bethsaida, while He sent away the people. And when He hadsent them away, He departed into a mountain topray. And when evening was come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and He alone on the land. And He saw them toiling in rowing, for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. But when they saw Him walking upon the sea, they supposedit had been a spirit, and cried out: for they all saw Him, and were troubled. And immediately He talked with them, and said unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I, be not afraid. And He went up unto them into the boat, and the wind ceased: and they were sorely amazed among themselves beyond measure, and wondered. For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their hearts were hardened." Mark 6:45-52. …
