Pastor Ralph Douglas West - Bring The Children To Me | Mark 9:14-29
Ralph Douglas West, 2026-05-13 · Scripture reading

… many said he's dead. But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet and the boy stood up. Now after Jesus had gone indoors his disciples asked him privately why couldn't we drive him out? He replied this kind can come out only by prayer. This is the word of God. Amen. Bring the children, bring them to me. I don't think you have to be convinced now that after mountain peak experiences, valleys follow. So right off the bat in this paragraph, we are given the condition of this man, a leper. We are not told his name. We are not told his occupation. …

David Platt, 2026-03-25 · Scripture reading

… so that most of them said he is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up and he arose and when he had entered his house, the disciples asked him privately, why could we not cast it out? And he said to them, this kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer. So there's a lot here. let me summarize this story by showing you the bad news and the good news in the story. Because it's bad news and good news that applies to all of our stories. So if you're taking notes, first, here's the bad news. There is a demonic adversary who wants to destroy you and people around you. That is the bad news. So think with me about the condition of the son in this story. We don't know his exact age. He could be a preteen, maybe early teenager. And listen to this description of him. He has a spirit in him that Jesus later in verse 25 calls an unclean spirit. …
