… I want to read to you today I think it will help us it's in Philippians chapter 2 verses 3-4 it says do all things out of selfish ambition no I think that's how we read the Bible though Oh, no, okay. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain or conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourself. I think we struggle on that part. But not looking to your own interests, but to each of you, to the interests of others. This is the blueprint what God has given us. There's something on the inside of our heart. Each and every one of us have our own little selfish ambition. But God has given us three different things I want to share with you today. Identify it. God can't heal what you act like doesn't exist. Identify it. All right, God, this is the area of my life. This is the area of my job, my family, whatever it is. Identify it. And second, God, I got to give it to you. …

… give God some praise right there. That's a good point right there. All right. So some of y'all are like, Pastor Mike, that's a lot, but give me a scripture. Philippians 2, verse 3. It says, Don't be selfish. Got you. Don't try to impress others. Got everybody else. And then what does it say? Be humble. Think of others as better than yourself. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take interest in others also, too. You must have the same attitude that christ jesus had past the mic. What attitude was that? I'm glad you asked matthew 20 28 for even the son of man jesus came not to be served But to serve others And he wanted to serve at such a high level that he decided to give his life as a ransom For all the sheep and goats I want you to see God's going to present you with the problem that's on goat level. Even this week, y'all can get some goat level issues. …

The One Habit That Will Save Your Marriage
Craig Groeschel, 2026-05-03

… our heavenly father. This is what Paul said in Philippians 2, 3. Listen to the power of this. He said this, he said, do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Could we stop right there for just a moment? Do nothing. Don't post out of selfish ambition. Don't buy things out of selfish ambition. Don't try to control your spouse out of selfish ambition. Don't self-promote out of selfish, do nothing out of selfish ambition. or vain conceit, but in humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests, but each of you to the interests of others. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility, elevate others, encourage others, value others, lift others, put their needs ahead of your needs, value them above yourself, not just because they deserve it, but because that's what love does. That's what love does. And if you want to have a relationship that's better than what you see in this world, you have to have a mindset that's different than what this world says. …

B.L.E.S.S. - Part 3: Engage
John K. Jenkins Sr., 2026-02-05

… Here's what Philippians 2 says, and I'll be finished with this little brief message today on this snow-filled day. Second, Philippians chapter 2 verses 2 through 4, here's another profound thought that just centers around this one point that I'm making, this one point of this thing here today. Philippians 2 verses 2 through 4 says, let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem others better than himself. Oh, that's wonderful. Think more highly of others than you think about yourself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interest, but also for the interest of others. This is again Paul talking to the Philippian church and telling them, let's have a mindset to think about the concerns of others, the passions of others, the burdens of others. Let's ask God to give us a sensitivity. This is what I want to pray about. God, give me the sensitivity to be caring and concerned about other people outside of what my interest is. I think it's important for Christians to learn that everything in life does not revolve around you and your interest. In fact, the Lord is calling us to recognize that He is beseeching us to be compassionate, loving, and concerned learned about other people. And I think that would please the Lord. I think that would be pleasing and acceptable. And it's one of the things that the scripture clearly tells us to do. …

… Well, look to Philippians chapter 2 in that wonderfully familiar portion of Scripture, Philippians 2, verse 3, do nothing, and here's a description of what it means to subject yourselves to others, do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves. That's the first thing he says. If you're going to subject yourselves to others, you're going to have to humble yourself, you're going to have to distance yourself from selfishness and conceit, and you're going to have to regard others as more important than yourselves. Verse 4, do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. And then he gives an illustration of Christ. So the Spirit that produces...and you can go back to Ephesians 5. The spirit that produces this kind of subjection to one another is the spirit described in Philippians 2. It's a humble spirit. It's a selfless spirit. It lacks the marked conceit of the unregenerate and willingly considers others better than itself and serves others before it even serves itself. …

… Look, if you will, now in verse 3. Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory, but in lowliness of mind. Let each esteem other better than themselves. Now, he talks about two things in this verse. He talks about strife, first of all. You know what strife is? Strife is a party spirit where we strive with others. You know, in national politics, we have the Democratic Party, and we have the Republican Party, and the Independents or whatever. There's no room for a party spirit in a church. There's no room for a little clique or a little group, my group. You see, because if you have a group, the very nature of that group is divisive. It's not that you can have a fellowship, but not a party spirit. You can never have anything that says, this is mine, is over against yours. For example, if you think that your department has a Sunday school class that is yours, or your class has a room that is yours, That's a party spirit. …
